Corona - cats

I know that some cats have had it but... I was watching Animal Cops - cannot remember which town but doesn't really matter. However I heard a vet saying she was going to test the cat for (various things), corona....

This programme was from earlier in the I think 2006 or so. I had not heard of Corona or is it one of a few diseases under one umbrella and we now have Covid 19???

Confused.

Coronaviruses are a family of viruses which cause some sorts of colds, SARS, MERS and COVID 19 in humans. There are also many coronaviruses which affect animals.

Corona is a huge family of viruses.

Co in Covid stands for Corona I believe.

halcyondays · 27/08/2020 14:52

There are several Coronaviruses of which “the Coronavirus” is one. Others include SARS and the common cold.

Youngatheart00 · 27/08/2020 14:52

The coronavirus is a group of respiratory viruses. Covid 19 is just one of them.

They are distinguished by the little crown-like structure on their exterior: hence Corona.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 27/08/2020 14:54

Co - Corona
Vi - Virus
D - disease
19 - 2019 (year of discovery)
