Yes, and they can advise you from there.
Mumsnet should not be your first thought here.

Shmithecat2 · 27/08/2020 01:25

111 at least!

Coffee234 · 27/08/2020 01:27

He needs treatment and a mental health assessment. I hope you are both OK.

52andblue · 27/08/2020 01:33

I am speaking to 111 now (or actually he is as they asked me to put him on)

How are you feeling now OP? He will probably be fine but hospital is absolutely the right place, for his mental health especially.

MaveyWavey · 27/08/2020 07:38

If I’ve got the right drug, promethezine will make him very sleepy. What what the dosage? If 10mg ones, he’ll probably be very sleepy but ok (I accidentally took 70mg once by accident by taking 2 x 25mg phenergan and then night nurse on top as I had a rotten cold. Didn’t realise night nurse also had promethizine in - I slept till 4pm the next day but was otherwise fine) If 25mg ones then I suspect he’ll be off the hospital. Hope he’s ok

Thank you.
We are home now.
He is okay physically.
He's had a Psych assess and support offered.
I'll prob ask for this to be taken down.
Thank you.

Phew, and sorry if i sounded blunt. So glad to hear, and well done for handling it well. Flowers for you.

@RubaiyatOfAnyone

You did, but sometimes bluntness is needed and I know you were saying it from a helpful place, so thank you x
Thank you to everyone else who replied as I felt very alone & scared.
I am on my own with two kids with ASD, living somewhere very rural.
I knew I had to call an ambulance but I faced either sending 15 yr old alone to hosp or taking along a 13 yr old as I didnt' know which hospital they'd go to -turns out it was over an hour away and I can't drive that far (physically disabled myself) so a logistical problem.
(paramedics initially said no to allowing us to stay all together, but relented, similar issue at ward when we got there, logistically difficult for all esp with Coronavirus issues but everyone was very kind to us)

Turns out Promethazine can cause heart palpitations and liver probs. We were just 'outside the window' for activated charcoal apparently, (nearly an hour from ingestion to ambulance arrival) and it took a further hour for ambulance to get us to hospital (remote area)
He was a bit tachycardic in the ambulance so they monitored his heart and did bloods in hospital. He is fine physically, no lasting damage. Cyps saw him in Hospital (big city team) and smaller local team have called today. Feel fortunate to be receiving support.
Have not cried yet, that's still lurking somewhere.

Anyone reading this - always keep the paper list of contraindications with your medicine. ours had got lost and that wasnt great for the paramedics. also, even if your kids are no longer toddlers, keep all meds in a locked cabinet, even if they are nearly 16 :(
