Civil service career advice please

Hi there current and former civil servants. Looking for some advice on how to progress my career.
I come from a private sector background and have joined the CS at HEO level. I work part time (3.5 days).
I've been in post a month. In any previous job I would be trying to cement my position as being a 'good pair of hands', demonstrating I'm capable, the right hire etc.
However, I work for a particularly busy Department (take a guess!) and think I have made a very good first impression. I have two primary workstreams which I am delivering on independently already. My manager has been (temp) promoted leaving both an SEO and G7 gap. As a result I've been pulled in to a couple more very high profile workstreams with exposure to many G6s and above.
How soon before I can start responding to EOIs and looking at job applications? I am ambitious and very interested in the projects for which jobs will be coming up, but concerned that I haven't been working on my existing workload for more than 5 minutes!

Advice please!

Depends on conversations with your line management chain. Some are strict and you have to serve your 18 months others will let you go if you are requested. You need to find out the lay of the land from your line manager however this can change dramatically at short notice.
