Stomach bug? Covid? Paranoid...?

I’ve been feeling more and more tired the last few days and for the last 24 hours or so had awful indigestion and nausea. No vomiting or diarrhoea. I don’t feel nauseous anymore but am sooo tired and a bit dizzy and every time I eat I feel uncomfortable and have to take an indigestion tablet.

I got back from spain yesterday and am isolating already. Two children with me though.

No temp, no cough, no sore throat but slightly aches in the limbs.

Any bugs going round? Obviously I’ve been abroad (for 7 weeks) so that doesn’t help but I’m just wondering if this sounds like a bug or should I get a Covid test?

The aching limbs would make me want a Covid test to be honest...

OneEpisode · 26/08/2020 21:51

I had the same symptoms and after a week had a Gp call, and the GP advised a Covid test. In my case we all tested negative. Can you access a test?
It took me quite a while to feel better!

ememem84 · 26/08/2020 21:53

The tiredness nausea and aching were sings for me that I was pregnant. Any chance of that?

Definitely no chance of being pregnant but I have had a few twinges in the womb department which has made me think the endometriosis might be coming back. I also have a dodgy thyroid and am prone to low iron so will see about getting those checked.

Interesting you had the same Low Episode. I will call the docs tomorrow. Incidentally did your GP do the test?

The nausea and indigestion was what I had - no obvious lung or breathing problems but after a few days, a feeling of a very tight band around the bra line and acid/reflux often linked to nausea that was very, very bad when lying down (I had to lie on my front eventually at night). Had very late period alongside that so a gamut of bad period symptoms, and pain in lower right side. It was not at all pleasant but I was ok and did have to keep with paracetamol (dissolved). I would see about getting a test.

Hi Free, no I went to the gov website and chose a test. There are usually post and drive in options, where you have to book a time for the test. The post options you have to book a courier to collect the test.

Freetodowhatiwant · 27/08/2020 15:08

I’ve been feeling that my bra feels a bit tight weirdly. Much less sick today but still tired and dizzy. Did you turn out to be positive? Did it get any worse and how long did it take to recover? What was doing the test like at home? Sorry for all the questions!

Thanks One Episode too I will look that up.

I would get a test otherwise you'll spend ages wondering.

You can book one so easily on the gov website. You can get a postal one or do a drive through. If you rang now you'd get an appt today I'm sure. Results usually within 24hrs. It really is easy.

If in doubt, get a test.

Hello Free. Had this about a week before lockdown so no tests at that point - so nothing proven, but more convinced now because of the timing. To start with I thought it was very unlikely, as nothing respiratory, right up until the point where 6 (?) different strains were identified and one of them fitted everything I'd had. For me the worst was the reflux/retching. This meant that even water was hard to keep down when attempting to lie down or sleep. I did get worse, but the worst symptoms were for 6 days and then started to feel properly like the start of recovering. There were points in all this when I could get up and about in the house but haven't been that unwell since my teens. I did seek medical attention (originally gynae as I thought it was that) and they were looking to keep an eye on ectopic pregnancy or appendicitis initially, but then that phase of pain became less of an issue. Liver readings looked a bit dodgy halfway but quickly went back to something less concerning. In some ways I think these could have been reactions to fighting the virus off.
I hope you are feeling better soon and that you can get tested.

Dowser · 27/08/2020 19:07

I feel the same and am suspecting Epstein-Barr virus
Sometimes these viruses can lie dormant and then get triggered if conditions are right
My stomach / gut is out of whack
Throat is a bit sore
But my god .. the fatigue and tiredness is off the scale

ememem84 · 27/08/2020 20:36

Epstein Barr is like glandular fever isn’t it? Or it is glandular fever. I’m not sure.

Whatever it is I remember having g f and feeling icky like this

Freetodowhatiwant · 27/08/2020 22:33

I read up on E B and the symptoms don’t seem to include nausea and indigestion, so they? No sore throat here Dowser but I can relate with the fatigue.

Sounds like you had it a lot worse than I have yet had it Ormally. Funnily enough I did have appendicitis a couple of years ago and the feeling did very much remind me of that at first. I hadn’t actually expected appendicitis to make me feel sick and throw up and it was only after having been up all night really sick that I started to get an unusual right sided pain. But yes a very similar feeling.

I’m not nauseous today and no longer have issues with indigestion. I AM still tired and a tad dizzy occasionally but I am much better than the day before.

I did see if I could get a test somewhere - for various boring reasons I can’t get a postal one - but the nearest it says there was one was Nottingham! I’m in London. Must have input something incorrectly.

That sounds promising (the reduction of feeling ill). Hope it keeps on that track.

Summersnearlyover · 27/08/2020 22:55

Tests seem to be becoming less available......funny that.
