Daft question re isolating

We spent 3 in the house awaiting results as my wee one had symptoms.

I'm working from home anyway, but my husband normally works from the office, so we had his grumpy chops to contend with too.

The advert came on the radio, the one about "Anyone can have it, anyone can spread it, anyone can catch it" and he queried the fact that we are taking precautions in public places as 'anyone can have it' so why couldn't he nip to the co-op, in his mask, as usual, keeping his distance, as usual, with his hands thoroughly sanitised.

Obviously he didn't, he only wanted crisps, but that's moot.

I was interested in heating anyone else's take?

The ad is referring to the fact that anyone could, unknowingly & without any symptoms, have it and you could catch it off them.
No mask the average person wears is 100% effective so of course he shouldn’t go out until he has a negative test result or -if your family have it-he could spread it to people.

Ideally you stay at home and have anything you need brought to you. Back in the real world that wasn't an option for us, living in a new town, no family or friends nearby and no Deliveroo type services and then there were no supermarket delivery slots so I headed to the supermarket later in the evening when it was quiet in a mask and went through the self scan line. Not ideal but we needed to eat and I had no symptoms at the time

This is exactly our point though - if anyone can have it at any time, and we all know masks are shit, however nose breathing into fabric isn't going to spread anything to someone any closer than licking distance anyway, it just seems like another arbitrary rule. Different if someone has symptoms. I'm also curious as to why we need to gag on a cotton bud, then poke it up our snouts when The Virus is so virulent someone can catch it from walking, maskless, past The Infected.
