Where to go on holiday in Devon?

Hello everyone
I’ve got a week booked off work at the end of September and I was hoping to take my 2 year old dd on holiday to Devon. I’ve never been to Devon before though and was just wondering if anyone knew of any good places to go with a young child. I’d ideally like to stay in a cottage and I would like to take dd to somewhere with a beach (we live in a city so we don’t get to go to the beach often) with pretty cafes and perhaps an ice cream shop- sorry this might sound like quite a lot of criteria to fit! I thought about Salcombe but my mum went a few years ago and wasn’t too keen on it. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions

Having done Coombe Martin, Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, East Prawle (near Salcome) and Teignmouth this year I would definitely say Teignmouth.

We stayed across the estuary in Shaldon during the first week of the ‘school holidays’ this year and honestly it was absolutely fantastic. We tried to extend our stay and book for next year but it’s already booked up for 2021!

Shaldon was lovely, our cottage opened up to the estuary right opposite the bridge which had amazing views, a little beach area and popular to swim or walk across during low tide. The beaches were sandy there were some great pubs and cafes. The London Inn, the Clipper Cafe were fab. Loved dinner at The Ness pub slightly up a hill near Ness Cove but amazing views. We caught the ferry across the Teignmouth and thoroughly enjoyed a day out and ate at the Crab Shack, the seafood brioche roll was delicious. Also not far from Torquay for another adventure out if you fancy it.

Teignmouth/Shaldon gets my vote!
