New Job Think I have Twins

I have 2 children (4 and 7) and had an interview for a new job yesterday, I always get really nervous in interviews. I mentioned to the interviewer that I had two young children, the youngest is 4. She replied with "twins? how lovely" and spent a good 5 minutes talking about how lovely twins are. For some reason I didn't interrupt her, I felt sick with nerves over the interview because I really need the job and just smiled. Anyway this morning I have had a phone call offering me the job and will be working closely with this woman. How do I tell her I don't have twins? The thought is making me cringe and making me consider backing out just so I don't have to have the conversation.

@BeeFarseer

Style it out. Ask her how HER twins are doing. Wait for the inevitable confusion. Then go 'OH, so you thought I had twins and I thought you had twins, how funny!'.

Laugh, move on.

This 100%.

This is brilliant and something I would do!

In fact I sort of did do this. Our neighbours carer hadn't seen me since before I had a huge bump with dc2 and was quite shocked, she was asking about the due date etc. My dc are very close in age and whilst dc1 was crying in the pram I said "yes I'm not sure how I'm going to handle two babies"...meaning dc1 & dc2 being close in age. But there's a bit of a language barrier and it all got a bit awkward when she started shrieking about me having twins and how she couldn't wait to see them and then her lift arrived and she cheerily went whilst I was stood like a lemon not sure why I hadn't corrected her. Blush

For ages I used to peep out the front door to check she wasn't out there and do a runner to my car in fear of the inevitable where's the other baby conversation.

Lol just bring it up when you start. Perhaps say I didn't bother explaining at the interview as it was a bit strange correcting you, but youngest is 4 eldest 7
