Constant offences

Reading through posts on various sites including MN, I can see so many people taking offence on non offence statements and discussions.

We cannot be straight and open in discussions anymore for fear of offence. Words are often twisted, statements are taken out of context etc. The finger of blame is then used and the originator is forced to explain and apologise.

Being offended is becoming a national pastime and I am fed up of hearing people finding things offensive unnecessarily. Honestly, I am sure there are people out there who would find the weather offensive because the wind is blowing in the wrong direction...

I agree.
You put your thoughts down then it’s quoted and you get lambasted.

To be honest, OP, this sounds like an excuse to be racist, sexist or homophobic - or just plain nasty. Fair enough if people are getting offended by incredibly minor things, but in general, people get offended because someone’s been offensive. That doesn’t make the offendee (no such word, but I didn’t know how else to put it) a snowflake. It makes the offender a complete twat.

@Foureyesgood

Seriously? in which planet is my comment "An excuse to be racist, sexist or homophobic"? Where did that come from? .......I rest my case.

This is almost libel!

Just wait for all those snowflakes coming on to tell you they are offended that you say they can be easily offened.

FishyMcFishyfingersFace · 25/08/2020 13:35

And I am now offended that I missed a 'd' out of the word 'offended'. 😀

foamrolling · 25/08/2020 13:37

Give us some examples. There are people who take offence easily and there are also people who gob off being offensive and complaining that 'you can't say anything these days'.

Lol at libel.

Phoenix21 · 25/08/2020 13:40

OP can you give examples?

Anon247 · 25/08/2020 13:44

@FishyMcFishyfingersFace
