Alton Towers - how busy

Has anyone been to Alton Towers in the last week or two?

I'm just wondering whether to book it for a day but probably won't if the queues are really long as my DH is too impatient and will moan like an old fish wife and suck the joy out of it 😜

I know each day will vary so we'd probably head there on a day when the weather isn't looking too good in the hope of it being quiet!

We went 2 weeks ago. We arrived 30 mins before the rides opened.

-smiler, first ride we went to so 30 minute queue until it opened then we were 2nd carriage on.
-oblivion, no queue
-Galactica, 5 minutes
-hex, 30 mins

We then had an early lunch at 11.30 (very important to go early if you’re eating in anywhere)

-skyride, no queue
-Rita, 40 mins
-nemesis, 50 mins

By now it was around 3.30 so we called it a day. All the queues were around 50 minutes by this point.

We went on a Wednesday and it was heaving.

We got on 6 rides and nothing else.

We went two weeks ago on a sunny day. We were there at 9am - so joined a queue by 9:30 ready for opening. My children are a bit younger so we didn't go on the big rollercoasters but went on everything else, some things twice. Maybe 15/16 rides in the day. I went on Nemesis alone and there was no queue, just the walk through the empty queue line that took over 5 mins.

It was 30-90 min queues for most rides on Sunday morning/lunchtime. Weather was greyish and dry for the most part. The app has the queue times on so you can try plan your day.
