Anyone dyed light patterned curtains dark ?

I have cotton curtains in a flower pattern light grey and white and yellow want to dye navy. Will the pattern still show. Lining is 50-50 poly cotton.

They are so dirty at the bottom due to dog coming in and out and it won't wash out .. yes I've already shrunk them by washing them, but they still fit.

Anyone dyed light patterned curtains dark ?

Yes, the pattern will show, it'll just all be coloured. The yellow will probably turn green. If they're not too precious I'd give it a go.

@TimelyManor oh I think I'll risk it. Just to decide what shade? I had to take them up when I bought them. It seems impossible to find any long enough to even take up ready made at the moment and can't find anything I like . Made to measure would be £££££ for the patio doors.

I've done it a few times. Be prepared for the curtains to shrink and for the lining not to shrink at the same rate. Yes the pattern will still show but clearly not as much.

@HasaDigaEebowai I've washed them once previously and will have to before dying as they are muddy due to wet dog. It's just they didn't wash well and they are too light to be by the back doors. They did shrink I had to lower my curtain pole, luckily it was high originally. Do you think they will shrink more ?

I used dylon the other day.
It was great. So easy to use and came out amazing.
I did end up with a little shrinkage but only like 3cm max.
I can still see the pattern But looks good.

The pattern will show, yes. It’ll probably look fine though, the stitching and lining OTOH is unlikely to take the dye. Could you like with contrasting stitching and lining?

@aShinyNewUsername what one did you use ? I've seen the dyson navy pods online .. just don't know how much to buy, as they are big curtains .. no idea on weight, prob need to do one at a time.

Not so worried about the lining as won't see it particularly, but if it goes light blue that's fine.

Hmmm my stitching on my dodgy take up .. don't think it was cotton so yes will show if doesn't dye, as was grey.
