Random Facebook invite

Sorry for the randomness I thought someone here might know.

Is there a way to invite someone to an event if you aren't friends with them on Facebook?

I got a random invite from someone I know a bit but I'm not fb friends with. I'm trying to work out how they did it, it's weirded me out a bit.

Any knowledge?

If they have your email or phone number, I believe they can.

Yes, relatives invited me to a party & I’m not Facebook friends with either of them.

Thanks for replies.

It showed up in my notifications. Does that mean she used my email and it linked to my account and invited me there?

It might seem like I'm being a bit dramatic. There's some history between me and a mutual friend of ours and I think she's been encouraged to try and reach out to me on their behalf, so it's made me anxious.

No, she typed your name into the search bar on her invitation page. It has nothing to do with your email or phone number. If you can be searched for...you can be invited.

Thanks that's helpful!
