Butlins...what has been your experience during Covid?

We've been following social distancing rules and we've not seen a lot of our extended family for months. I've booked October half term off work and I've arranged to visit 3 siblings and my mum (on 4 different occasions).

I was talking to my mum and mentioned how exhausting it would be. I then brought up the idea of us all going to Butlins for a few days.

They're all on board. We've worked out the cost. It sounds too good to be true though.

If you've been to Butlins or similar, what has your experience been like?

I'll tell you in two weeks as I'm going there in a week's time.

There’s a Butlins 5 mins from my house and I’ve heard nothing but excellent reviews about it. There’s ½ the amount of people they would usually let in and it seems really pleasant!

This is brilliant news! Do they still have the singing competitions? I came first place 12 years ago and mum came 2nd. I'd do anything win again. Also, can we go swimming?

Butlins are at Minehead, Skegness and Bognor Regis. Pontins (an absolute hellhole) is at Camber Sands. Do NOT go there. In fact there is a very recent thread on AIBU about how are Pontins still allowed to operate.

Camber sands is Pontins, not Butlins. I wouldn't go to Pontins even in non Covid times!

Butlins in Bognor was fab, good social distancing, encouraged mask wearing, hand sanitizer everywhere and much lower capacity than usual. Loved it!

I last went to Parkdean in Cambersands in 2009 and it was brilliant.

Pontins was right next door and I always wondered if it was better.

I went to Butlins in Bognor 2 years ago and it was fab but I want Covid reviews for Parkdean in Camber during Covid. I'm a ballache. Sorry!

I recently went to a Park resort in Leysdown and it was very good. My kids are tiny so the evening activities weren't really for them but they had entertainment in the outdoor area (like red coats but their own ones getting the kids to do dances etc) , masks had to be worn by people over 11 in the arcades and we had to book the swimming pool for a half hour session. They did very well and I would definitely go back next year
