What does everyone think of this house and the area?
I've name changed for this so I can't be linked and found out if I move to the village.
I am a single mum with a toddler, baby on the way and dog.
Village has a school, shop, pub and 700 residents.

I quite like Barton. It's got good road links to the A1. Close to Darlington which is a good sized town and is easy to access beautiful countryside of North Yorkshire. Also consider Middleton Tyas, Brompton on Swale, and Richmond.

Thankyou @StrikingMatches
There are 5 properties to rent for less than £700 within 5 miles of Richmond. I will expand my search to include the villages you mention.
I am looking for somewhere fairly close to friends in Catterick and Nursery in Stapleton

Try outskirts of Darlington too such as Blackwell or the west end. Or village wise Croft on Tees, Low Conniscliffe. Happy to
comment on area/property if you need. Good luck with your search.

Main thought is you’d have to keep a close eye on two young kids in that garden! House looks nice though.

Flynn999 · 23/08/2020 17:29

Property looks fairly dated and what looks like damp/water marks in the room with what looks like Lino?

Barton as I recall is fairly small, are you wanting to join in with local baby groups for the kids? If so you may be better moving closer to a town, otherwise everything you want to do is a drive to Darlington/catterick etc and that can all add up cost wise. Also if you don’t drive I’d avoid.

Thankyou all for your thoughts.
I drive so no issues there, I love village life. Grew up in the middle of nowhere and want that for my children with a little more going on than I had. I've lived in town and hated every minute so definitely want rural.
The garden is the main thing putting me off the property as my toddler is very adventurous. I won't really know until I see it tomorrow how exposed the front garden is and if there is anything I can do to make the back safer.
Well done for spotting the damp, I hadn't noticed that. Some TV ing to give a better look tomorrow.
Not bothered about baby groups, I didn't enjoy them last time and I'm going to be a student so probably won't have time anyway.
