Tips for A-type personality to make life easier

I am a perfectionist- I can't help it.

I get stressed if the house isn't clean and tidy, clothes aren't ironed, inside of fridge isn't full. I don't know why....but anyway I really need to unclench.

Does anyone have any tips.

I am going back to work full time in September and these are the ideas I have so far:

  • give up wearing makeup. My skin is pretty good and if I apply tan moisturizer every other day I should be able to get away with it. I haven't worn mascara since March and its fine! I will also have more time in morning.
  • book in a deep clean of the house in December ready for Christmas. I'm only a higher wage until march but not sure I want to spend the money on a weekly cleaner tbh.
  • buy a Christmas organiser. Write it down so I don't think about it too much. Last year I didn't start until 1 December and it was fine. Constant battle in my head against people who kept telling me they'd finished by 1 November!
  • no more ironing. Gave it up in lockdown became no one saw us. Used to it now, but will do school polo shirts maybe.
  • only wash school uniforms on a Friday. Meaning I might have to send kids into school with the odd mark on clothes (this one makes me twitch!).

What do you do to unclench other A-types? Thanks.

You could work on reducing the perfectionism and understanding what drives it?

Scrap the organiser and the deep clean. You are feeding your perfectionist nature by trying to control everything around you.
Many people manage fine without an organiser. They tend to be happier and more organic. Planning sucks away the fun and the joy of the season. Who wants to be finished by Nov? Christmas Eve present wrapping is part of the fun.
Will Santa really care if you've deep cleaned the house? No. Stop. What do you need to be 'ready' for?

I would however send the DC to school with 'new' clothes everyday.
Our school has actually sent a letter stating all uniform must be changed daily due to the pandemic and contamination.
