How do I defrost this beef??

My not very sensible husband took a joint of beef out of the freezer last night for us to have today. Unsurprisingly it's still pretty frozen. We're going away tomorrow so can't wait till then I have it. Our microwave is not very reliable.
The beef isn't in its original packaging, just a freezer bag.
I'd need to start cooking it at 2-3pm.

What's the safest thing for me to do with it?

Surely if its been out since yesterday it will be defrosted ready for 3pm? I took a 2k pork joint out last night and it has defrosted.

Do you have a fan in the house ? Try sitting it infront of the fan it works !

I'd sit it (in packaging) in a bowl of water.

Fill a sink up with cold (Must be cold) water and put it in. It speeds up the process. Change the water per this article www.goodhousekeeping.com/food-recipes/cooking/a31928899/how-to-defrost-meat/

I agree with sitting it in its packaging in water. Also, as the water gets colder from the beef, I'd change the water throughout the day so that's it's slightly less cold

Thanks all. I saw the bowl of water method, but it's in a freezer bag not it's original packaging as it's part of a larger piece that's been cut up. I'm worried that it wouldn't be quite watertight enough?

Water won’t harm it! Just stick it in the sink and run the cold tap over it (plug out). It’s how every restaurant defrosts things.

Do you have a fan oven? I’ve found using the fan with no heat Is the quickest way to defrost meat
