Kindle, which one to buy?

I would like to buy a Kindle for my husband for our anniversary, but not sure which one to buy? Is the paperwhite worth the extra £50 over the basic kindle?

Yes so you can read it in the dark, it's also easy to see in bright sunshine. I love mine

I had a Paperwhite for years - absolutely loved it.

When it broke recently, I saw the 'basic' Kindle had been updated to include a backlight, so I opted for one of those instead of getting another Paperwhite.

Bad decision. It feels cheap, is harder to turn, gets stuck on pages and also sometimes skips numerous pages without me touching it.

I would recommend a Paperwhite.

Paperwhite definitely, had mine for years and years.

Paper white! My last one lasted for 8 years with almost daily use. Just got the new one and it's excellent, worth the extra in my opinion.

I love my paper white had it for years now. I love that you can read in dark without blue light and read in bright sunshine on holiday too.
It’s getting slow at turning pages and keeps crashing so I think I need a new one, but will definitely go for another paper white, plus the long battery life is brilliant.

The Paperwhite is brilliant. Highly recommend spending the extra.

Team paper white all the way - so much better than the basic.

Another Paperwhite fan here. I do wish we could have an option of page turning buttons on it though. I miss those.
