Finding it hard

I took DS to the park this afternoon and there was a family there who were having loads of fun, daughter, mother and grandparents.

I'm heavily pregnant and my in laws have announced they are moving 400 miles away (as in, they've had an offer accepted, it's not a pipe dream). They have never been very interested, probably met our son less than 10 times in the 2 years he has been around.

My parents are frail and although interested are very stressful to be around. My dad is quite literally a national socialist (as well as an alcoholic), my mother has mental health issues and does not stop talking at you. Dad can be quite unpleasant and it's just not an environment I'd like our son to be around in. We havent seen them since christmas.

I know it's only a snapshot, and I know that our children will have plenty of love from DH and I and some very good friends, but it just made me sad.

Hi op - how old are your parents?
How much does your dad drink? As in units?
I can only speak for myself but hardly any of my friends socialise or rely on grandparents. Most of us are having children older (Im sorry if your quite young) but a consequence is older grandparents who come with health issues.
I never really thought of it until I had my own child.

Hi. I'm early 30s but my parents didn't have me til later so they are well into their 70s now.

I dont know how.many units he drinks. It takes very little to get him drunk though.

In my group of friends most have grandparents who they see frequently and who help with childcare so that probably makes me feel worse.
