Fish and Chips on Sussex Coast

Hi there,
I have a worn out friend friend visiting and all she wants to do is eat fish 'n' chips beside the sea, where we can chill and natter.
Can anybody recommend somewhere on the coast Brighton/ Worthing way (we are driving from Horsham so don't want too long a drive), where we can get fish and chips on the coast. As she works in a hospital we are being extra crowd sensitive, but maybe its less busy along at Hove or Shoreham? Been looking online, but looks like we will have to buy fish and chips in the town then drive along to coast? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I so want her to have a lovely relaxed day out. Thanks!

Just seen on a local Facebook Site someone recommending Chipwick. Near the front I think?.

Blueberrycreampie · 22/08/2020 17:33

Sorry - Worthing! Also Ropetackle Fish and Chips, Shoreham.

Bankers in Hove or the Athena B on Boundary Road.

You can also go down to Rottingdean and get nice fish & chips from Smugglers, right on the beach. There are great rockpools there if you have DC with you and it's usually quiet.

I’ve got fish and chips from this place www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g503922-d2395409-Reviews-Ossie_s_Best_Fish_and_Chips-Whitstable_Kent_England.html#MAPVIEW

Near Whitstable. It’s a few roads back from the coast with lovely views Smile if the photo attaches, we sat on a bench here which is a bit higher up than the sea but you can go down a few steps and sit on the beach if you wanted. It was lovely.

Horsham - A24 to Worthing BN11 5RP fish and chip shop at top of George V Avenue, quarter of a mile straight down to the road to pebbly beach. Free parking along the front. 🍟

Chipwick in Worthing is lovely and although not quite on the front you can easily stroll down and sit on the beach

Oh Blimey! Thank you All! What an invaluable community.
So many to choose from.
I'm very thankful to you All. Will take me a bit of time to digest.
Even those further a field look worth a day trip with my teens.
Many Thanks to SeasonallySnowyPeasant, I am going to head there as really close to the sea and we can take a walk along to the Ovingdean cliff cafe for a cuppa after.
Cheers!

We got our first day from the family that owns Bankers Smile

Have a lovely day OP! I loved Rottingdean when I was little and take the kids now when I they fancy a spot of rockpooling.

We had delicious fish ‘n’ chips from Smugglers in Rottingdean.
Really friendly staff that pointed us in the right direction for a cafe right by the sea for a cuppa.
Going to try Holywell Bay in Eastbourne this weekend with my teens- always thought it would be a bit for the more mature, but thought I should see for myself. Hoping to find a day beach hire (probably too late this season)- but that’s something for another post :) Thanks again for everyone’s suggestions!

Hello All,
Well... I’ve given up on finding a holiday that not extortionately priced!
So... just going to explore our beautiful land on our doorstep- Sussex and Kent.
Can any of you suggest the safest areas to swim along the coast or rivers. I have two teens who like to swim. I was also thinking a day windsurfing taster course too- anybody know where I can find this reasonable priced. In fact I am generally asking for any day trip advice not too costly. This will sound silly, but where are the best places to get onto the South Downs- I can’t find the paths!
Does anybody know if there are any funky evening bars/ cafes with music- the kiddies will like that kind of vibe, especially if we can sit on the beach. Trouble is I don’t think I am going to find anywhere not to busy as we are all wanting the same. I’m asking you lots I know, but I haven’t been lucky with my own research. Am hoping to fill a week with beach, swim, funky cafe/bar, music and beautiful views.
Thanks!
