Change of primary school application

Hi all,

I'm considering changing my son's school. We are not moving houses, and the in-year application form requires us to write why we wish to move to a new school. The honest truth is that although the infant school is faring very well, the junior counterpart, on the other hand, isn't doing as well. He will be starting in juniors from September. I feel that my son would thrive educationally at the school we wish to apply to, which is also within our catchment. The curriculum is more enriched at the school and there is also less children per year, which i feel would be more beneficial for son, as he is slowly becoming very lost amongst a very big year group.

Please could someone advise me how to phrase this on the application form. The junior school headteacher would also need to sign the form.

Thank you in advance, your input is greatly appreciated

You could make something up like childcare help, new job it's closer to etc

Say it’s because there are fewer children per year and you feel a smaller school will suit him better.

Are there definitely vacancies for his year?

If so, I can’t imagine they’d need a compelling argument. Just say the truth, that you think a smaller year will be better for him
