Would you eat this?

I ordered Chinese last night, I haven't had Chinese takeaway for about 15 yrs. I thought I'd get it for the DC to try. It turned up really late so they'd had something else by the time it arrived.

I'd forgotten how much you get! Sadly, it wasnt that good, but ok . I put it all in the microwave to cool down after I'd eaten. Then forgot about it til this morning.

Shall I bin it? Or have it tonight. I put it in the fridge at 7am ish. I'm inclined to bin it tbh (might feel differently if it had been really nice) but also, it was £25.

Not the rice

Rest of it probably, I'd reheat it very well first though.

Also depends how warm your kitchen is...

Bin

Oops, I meant bin because life is too short to eat old foods you didn't enjoy when they were fresh.

@dudsville yes that's what I'm thinking, it really annoys me that it was a bit crap!

Also, the rice was ok and the kids would like it whereas I'm.not sure they'd like the rest. Bin it is I think. I'm pretty laid back about this stuff usually.

I know it seems a waste to bin it and £25 is a lot of wasted money, but is it really worth potentially giving yourself food poisoning?
I would bin it.

I was expecting loads of people to say "oh it'll be fine, eat it!" As usually seems to happen on threads like these!

In cooler weather my answer would be to heat til it’s piping hot and it would be ok , in warmer weather I wouldn’t chance it at all

QuestionableMouse · 22/08/2020 17:26

Chuck it.

I'd personally never reheat takeaway as you never know if it's already been reheated.

whirlwindwallaby · 22/08/2020 17:30

I'd eat it. I've lived with people who left out rice and chicken all the time with just food nets over it and offered me the same food. No one was ever ill from eating it.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 22/08/2020 17:31

If it had been in the fridge then fine but it won’t even have cooled quickly in the microwave. I’d be binning it and kicking myself for the waste.

If I have too much takeaway and want to cool it I stand the containers in cold water for a while before putting in the fridge - it’s key to try to cool it down ASAP, the microwave isn’t great for that as it’s insulated.

whirlwindwallaby · 22/08/2020 17:32

I probably would have just served it up for breakfast though.
