Woke up early as I'm recovering from surgery and my pain medication has worn off and my body clock is a bit fucked. As I'm waiting for the next lot to kick in it occurs to me that I have a rather eventful relationship with sleep anyway. I have experienced: sleepwalking, sleeptalking, making phone calls in my sleep, sleep paralysis, exploding head syndrome, hypnagogic hallucinations and lucid dreams although the lucid dreams were on purpose. I am 52 so have been around for a long time, and each of these experiences has only happened a handful of times (apart from sleepwalking, which has happened quite a lot, often in bursts), so it's not like this is something that rules my life or anything. But making a list like that it seems like loads. My sister also talks, walks and thrashes around in her sleep on occasion (we used to share a room) and my son is similarly vocal and mobile: he used to fall out of bed a fair bit when sleeping (and continue sleeping) and also on one memorable occasion headbutted the wall in his sleep. I'm kind of aware that this is probably unusual, but not sure to what extent and don't really know why it happens.

Would be interested in any thoughts.

I keep going back to this lonely little thread to see if there are any replies and there are never any.

Does no one else experience this?

I used to sleepwalk and sleeptalk. As a child, I could apparently hold a pretty interactive conversation without waking up. And could get dressed in my sleep. The only night I can recall sleepwalking as an adult was the day my granddad had died. I woke up falling over a chair.

I keep hearing knocking in my sleep. I have absolutely no idea if I am imagining or not. But it's clear as a bell and wakes me up. However, one time there actually was someone knocking at my door so, god knows?!
