Please recommend me the most comfortable shoes? I'm struggling being back at work and my feet HURT.
Casual is fine, I own Skechers go walks but even they aren't helping. Thanks

@LaurieFairyCake

Blundstone boots
Yep. I live in my Blundstones - summer and winter. They're like the (old) Land Rover of shoes. I also have Crocs, Uggs and Birkenstocks (but DD seems to have adopted them - and my old pair of Blundstones). They last forever, you can add inserts, they can look 'smart' (mine don't - they're covered in mud and paint). When I eventually go back to work, a quick clean and they'll look like new.

Nothing new to add, but you need to find your basics. Mine are Birkenstock Gizehs in the summer (I currently have, erm, 9 pairs. In my defence I absolutely shred them quickly with my super-stinky feet), and all of last winter some jolly silver trainers from Hotter. For slippers, Birk Amsterdams.

I have quite severe arthritis in most of my joints which severely limits my choice of shoes. Basically, anything other than Birks is going to upset my feet eventually.

I also have: Ecco knee and ankle boots, Gabor pumps, some ancient and beautiful 1940s-style Taryn Rose heels (which I love so much I might demand to be buried in them, but the brand has gone spectacularly downhill in the last few years), other Hotter lace-up pumps, a pair of John Lewis own brand suede knee boots which are surprisingly comfortable, some Timberlands which used to be but aren't any more (because of ankle bone impingements) - can't bear to bin them as I love them so much. And I do have a couple of pairs of Clarks ballet pumps which are quite comfy for short periods.

But basically my feet are now feral. I had to wear some perfectly nice Gabor pumps for a formal occasion for about 6 hours this time last year. It was HIDEOUS.

If you find your feet ache, be careful of the shoes with memory foam insoles or thick rubbery soles, they make my feet incredibly hot and achey after a short time. Normal shoes don't.

My comfortable ones are all one-offs and I struggle to find shoes due to weird feet. Trial and error.

Ecco or Asics. If you can get away with flip flops Archie’s are amazing, I prefer them to my Birkenstock’s.

AveEldon · 21/08/2020 22:32

nike air max or toms

myomy · 21/08/2020 22:38

Another vote for Nike Air Max 90's

Literally the most comfortable shoe ever made:

Chickpeabiryani · 21/08/2020 22:44

May be an acquired taste though 😂

anappleadaykeeps · 21/08/2020 22:44

Fitflop ballerinas

hughjackman88 · 21/08/2020 22:46

Crocs and socks, and they look great too.

VoldemortsMaid · 21/08/2020 22:52

I don't understand how Birkenstock's stay on your feet? Any time I've tried to wear shoes without a back/heel strap they've come flying off?!

timtam23 · 21/08/2020 23:01

Same as @Chickpeabiriyani - Clarks, Funny Dream laceups. They have a definite retro look to them (some might say they are fully) but they are so so comfortable even after being on my feet all day.
Josef Seibel shoes also very comfortable to wear straight out of the box

Merrells or New Balance if I’m doing lots of walking. I have wide feet and find these fit well. I also loved the big padded DC court graffiks.

Crocs and socks, and they look great too.
After Blundstones, socks and Crocs are my second. Then socks and Birkenstocks. My DC walk 20 paces behind me 🙄😁
SabrinaThwaite · 21/08/2020 23:23

And I also have a pair of Ara fur lined Goretex suede snow boots - fabulously comfy (although the DC call them granny boots). Haven’t tried Ara trainers though.

onlinelinda · 21/08/2020 23:26

Gabor or Nile trainers and fitflops.

surlycurly · 21/08/2020 23:27

Clark's 'freckle ice' ballet pumps. I've owned pairs in a multitude of colours over the years and I go back to them again and again. Super comfy for work!

Whatthebloodyell · 21/08/2020 23:35

A pair of Clark’s Loafers. Sadly by the time they wore out they no Longer did that style. They were so soft and Comfy but still smart.
Ah I miss them.

BookSkark · 21/08/2020 23:36

Definitely not Gazelles - they completely ate my heels. But if anyone can find that holy grail of stylish and comfortable for long distance walking to I'm listening! I've spent so long taking heels in my bag, it would be lovely to have something which is stylish enough that I don't have to change.

ladybirdsarelovely33 · 21/08/2020 23:51

Ecco shoes

strawbmilk · 21/08/2020 23:52

Birkenstock Arizona Eva. Lightweight and washable. DS threw up in it the other day and it rinsed right off 😂

HexyAndIKnowIt · 21/08/2020 23:56

My Pozu Rey boots.
I got them cheaper at a comic con. I could walk forever in them. So so comfortable. I live in fear or ruining them as they are about £150 a pair outside the sale.

I'm thinking of a pair of sketchers keepsake boots for winter to go with them. I've heard they are exceptionally comfy but if anyone else has them I'd love to know.

MazDazzle · 21/08/2020 23:57

Gabor

The ones I had were very oldladyish though, but SO comfy.
