Short survey on Care Bears/Care Bear Cousins (children of the 80s only): it asks how many you had, which ones you had and why you liked them.

I have no connection whatsoever with the Care Bear franchise - I just got interested in how many bears/cousins of different types were available in the UK and wondered how we all decided which one to pick, back in the day.

I'm a regular poster but have namechanged because it's a bit cringey to admit how much thought I've devoted to the bloody Care Bears I promise to come back and report my findings!

My DD who is 2 picked this up off the shelf at Asda when she was just 1....it was love at first sight and now they are inseparable.

I was 17 when the Care Bears came out, so was too old for them. I also lived in not nice circumstances, so I couldn’t afford one, as they really were expensive at the time they came out. I used to say they were ridiculous and a rip off.

Now I want a grumpy bear. 😭

I remember being given one and going to school with it. I have memory issues. I don’t remember the name so can’t complete your survey.

All is forgiven! I was similarly scathing about the minions in Despicable Me - I quite like them now

I had the elephant cousin. Was kept at my nans so didn’t often play with it. Have very happy memories and may be off to eBay!

Done! I just had the one- good luck bear. My mum brought it for me the day she passed her driving test! I loved that bear.

I had the plushies in mind initially, but this is hardly a rigorous scientific study so I am happy with whatever data you put in the questions on favourite bear span plush/plastic, really.

I think the care bear cousins soft toys weren't actually official ones.

I still have mine, I wish I'd kept my brothers ones when my mum died.

I don't know, they seemed pretty official - they had the various little details that you get with on-brand products (i.e. heart on the bum, heart--shaped footpads, confirmity of style with bears where appropriate).
