Short survey on Care Bears/Care Bear Cousins (children of the 80s only): it asks how many you had, which ones you had and why you liked them.

I have no connection whatsoever with the Care Bear franchise - I just got interested in how many bears/cousins of different types were available in the UK and wondered how we all decided which one to pick, back in the day.

I'm a regular poster but have namechanged because it's a bit cringey to admit how much thought I've devoted to the bloody Care Bears Grin I promise to come back and report my findings!

That'll be Goodluck Bear! In the original cartoons he has an Irish accent :)

This is DS with my 2002/2 rerelease love a lot, he adores it.

I had loads of them, and cousins. I had a proud heart cat that I sold to a collector for $300

Nice! I have had to break the news to DS2 that we cannot afford an 80s Proudheart Cat, and we don't like the blue 2002 version (blue cats, I ask you). Therefore I am currently crocheting him a Proudheart Cat facsimile using a Care Bear crochet pattern I bought off Etsy for £1.50 - much cheaper Grin will have to see how it goes though, his confidence in my abilities is touching but possibly unjustified!!

I was obsessed with Care Bears, it was a family joke of his much I loved my sleep so Bedtime Bear was my obvious spirit bear. But for my birthday they got me Cheer Bear. My disappointment was a tad obvious and I'm sure the AIBU verdict would be I didn't deserve a bear at all. But I just couldn't understand how they decided to just get Cheer Bear instead. Didn't they know me at all?!? And I'd been specific.
They got me bedtime Bear at some point.

I've waited a long time to tell that story 😂

I totally answered your survey wrong, sorry. I was talking about the little plastic figures I had (well they were mine and my brothers). 🤦 I only had two soft toy ones, a big Funshine bear and a little one, which I think was bedtime bear.

DD was given a little Funshine bear as a gift when she was a baby. :)

Sorry for failing, but I was also impressed with your sex question 😂

It's shit when you receive a gift that is Almost right but not quite - esp when you've been very clear! I'm sure at least a few of us will sympathise :)

Done the survey. Currently in the house we have 9 medium soft care bears and 22 plastic poseable care bears and then smaller plastic static care bears. We also have the care a lot castle.

Recently I did buy the white limited edition with silver colour bum heart, tenderheart bear. I think it was for the 30th anniversary.

We also have the original 1984 duvet set that is currently on my 3 year olds bed. The quality of it is amazing. So much better than duvet covers these days.

Oh my goodness I just remembered I had a giant one of those. Where the hell did that go? 🤔 probably in landfill with my giant cheekaboo.

When I was 6 my mum went in to labour with my DB and I vividly remember being carried sleepily to my neighbour’s house to be looked after. She tucked me in to her huge bed and put my lovely Bedtime bear under my arm.

The next day she bought me a Carebear magazine and on the back was a picture of a girl asleep in a big bed with Bedtime bear. I was insanely happy that I’d been just like that girl the night before.

I was 15 when I got my Bedtime Bear in the 80s. Too old at the time but I still love him!

DS1 has just gone to sleep curled up with his nouveau Share Bear (semi-nouveau; from 2002) - he says she is his favourite. I'm so pleased Grin

Also, I have added Champ Bear to the survey options - many apologies for leaving him out!

Lovely! DS1 has a gigantic pink one like Rainbow Heart - Hopeful Bear or similar. My old brain can't cope with these modern names Grin
