Anyone else find Team RH really unpleasant?

I know Team RH are quite popular in here but I don't like their personality. It's a shame because their actual weight loss advice is basic sensible stuff, just healthy eating and exercise, but they seem very preoccupied with slating other people. Okay we get it, you disapprove of Slimming World, we heard you, now give it a rest. I don't like their so-called banter and find some of it sexist and patronising to women in particular. I'm all for encouraging people to be healthier but I find them very sneery.

I tried it a couple of years but didn’t like it. I also found it overly prescriptive in terms of how many steps we had to do each day.

Yogurtflavours · 21/08/2020 09:29

They make some nasty comments towards women which are really patronising.

Yes. I followed them for about a week and I wasn't impressed at all. My final straw was when they went on a "Karen" rant and I unfollowed them.

Oh I hate that. They come across as really not very nice people.

So much of their social media at least (I haven’t looked any further because of it) seems to be focused on slagging off other weight loss methods rather than selling their own.

Bishybarnybee · 21/08/2020 13:06

Yes, quite sexist/ageist/patronizing, and if they are challenged in any way they can be npleasant.

But you are right that their advice is generally sound. I think they'd describe themselves as tough love.

Yogurtflavours · 21/08/2020 13:15

Maybe. Personally I think of tough love as things like you haven't lost any weight this week because you've eaten too much, and you need to be more honest with yourself. It doesn't need to involve sexism, and it can be done with being patronising.

I agree. Richie is an absolute bellend. I agree with their concept but can't stand him.

iamabox · 21/08/2020 13:22

It's like a cult! I cant stand Richie and cant watch the videos. All ranty and sweary...and people love it. Any company that builds its brand slagging other companies off isnt a very good company. I did sign up a while ago, and I really struggled, I asked for help from a coach and basically got told I obviously wasnt doing it right and to watch the videos again....🙄.

They are not a nice friendly bunch, not unless you're fawning all over them telling them how amazing they are.

Ilovesausages · 21/08/2020 13:55

I notice that I said I tried it a few years - that should read I tried it a few years AGO. I only tried it for a day because I quickly realised it wasn’t for me.

KenAdams · 21/08/2020 15:12

They're horrible. I'm on a Peloton group and it's much more positive with everyone helping each other out.

MushyMushi · 21/08/2020 15:59

It’s definitely got a cult feeling about it (which they vehemently deny)...

Richie comes across as an arrogant twat, tbh. He just strikes me as a bully that enjoys slagging anyone off that doesn’t agree with him or that doesn’t follow the same lifestyle.

And god, the people that follow them! They’re all utterly brainwashed. Never seen such brown nosers in all my life. And think they’re hilarious by slagging off SW and crapping on about deep throating bananas.

I used to be a member, I left when I realised I didn’t want to financially support such a complete nob.

Yogurtflavours · 21/08/2020 18:29

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was beginning to think everyone was obsessed with them.

Come over to Les Mills - the creative team behind the programmes in NZ are lovely (not so sure about the business side). That plus MyFitnessPal and you'll be sorted!

Yogurtflavours · 22/08/2020 12:53

Why are they so popular on here then? They seem to get recommended all the time.

Can anyone advise with this please? I joined Team RH in March I think, and they said I have to join for a year. However, I quickly got fed up of the 'tough love' and only did it for a few weeks. Can I cancel my DD with them with no come back or do I have to stay for the year? Thanks 😊

MushyMushi · 22/08/2020 13:20

I cancelled and didn’t have a problem.

Lockdownseperation · 22/08/2020 13:21

Who are these people?

DamitJanet · 22/08/2020 13:37

I think it’s awful, rude misogynistic, bullying attitude. There doesn’t seem to be any attempt to show what they do well, just slag off others.

MushyMushi · 22/08/2020 13:54

@Lockdownseperation

They’re a diet/fitness company on Facebook.

Lockdownseperation · 22/08/2020 14:12

@MushyMushi thank you. I was feeling all left out.

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 22/08/2020 14:17

I paid for a year and didn't use it. Found it way too ranty and cliquey. There was no understanding that not everyone could do what was asked of them.

I liked the tough love aspect of it, but it just turned into being nasty about people.
