Follow and interact (like, comment) with other similar accounts.
Obviously no idea what your business is, but as an example if it is a home decor one, follow others, potential future customers who look to have an interest in your feed.
When you do comment, make sure it's a proper comment and not just "nice feed!" or "good photo!" as that screams spam Grin
Post regular content (few times a week, say 3 or 4)
Followers will start to build up naturally.

Doing all of that! So frustrating!

Can be very tough, I would say to engage and be social away from comments too. If you like someone’s page/content send them a message or send a reply l to stories. Comment on people’s posts for 15-30mins before you post and comment on people’s posts after you post. Take part in sharing peoples content you like and resonates with business in your stories for example follow Friday etc.

Don’t get fooled my Instagram and other people’s successes it can take a long time, it can also be quick if you have something go viral. Have you considered doing something on IGTV and can you utilise the new reels feature?

Make sure to tag local locations on your posts and stories, can also use hashtags in your posts and stories too. If you do research the best ones to suit your brand and audience, if you use generic popular ones the posts tend to get lost.

Remember it is a part of your business marketing and unless you’re an Instagram business then it shouldn’t be your only source of traffic or marketing.

However tempting don’t buy likes, followers or comments. Giveaways do sparing as it doesn’t mean people will engage after the giveaway is over.

Have you considered Pinterest? You can receive great traffic from Pinterest, as people search on it like they do google it’s a great way for people to discover you.

If you are an Instagram only business maybe venture into other areas as if IG goes down so does your business.

Hope this helps, hard to give specific without knowing your biz. But don’t give up!!

How long have you had your account?

DownToTheSeaAgain · 21/08/2020 08:10

Building Instagram organically is hard work these days. They want businesses to pay for promotion. Make sure you use but not overuse hashtags and use stories on a regular basis.

Bridecilla · 21/08/2020 08:15

How many times are you posting on stories and feed? Research relevant hashtags

Depends on the business and time of year. I used to have a crochet business page. Much busier in winter!

Post every day and comment and like a lot . Don't follow loads for follows back it looks try hard. I've never used stories just post and have gone from 600 follows in Dec to 28k now literally just from daily interacting and good use of hastags

Run a competition or use paid for ads

Following with interest too.

I feel like business accounts can be so tricky to grow as they’re more niche/specific then say an interiors account or an ootd account or a pet account.

Gosh I'm a fitness business and have only accumulated 150 followers in 4 months!

I post most days. What am I doing wrong

givemushypeasachance · 25/01/2022 11:34

Also ask yourself - what is the point of you being on Instagram and having followers? Are you a business that sells products, and you hope that followers will be people who will click into your website and buy something you sell? Or do you provide a service, and being on there you hope people who may need your service will see your account and remember when they need e.g. dog boarding, or a wedding cake made? Are you a physical local business like a cafe, and so general followers aren't that important, it's people who live within a few miles and may actually come into the high street and visit you who are relevant?

wendz86 · 25/01/2022 12:03

I was going to say post a competition where people have to tag a friend and share your page.
