Preparing for Pre-School - what do I need to get

Hi all

DD is due to start Pre-School in a couple of weeks and I am clueless as to what I need to get her. We had a visit arranged for April during which I was hoping to get all info, but due to lockdown this was postponed and it will now take place just a few days before she is due to start. I have been onto their website and on their site they have adviced re.what shoes children should wear and they also have their own uniform which is not compulsory. That's about all I know tbh. Do I need to get her a back pack or do we usually have to purchase them from the school? She is partially potty trained (needs nappies to poo) in case it's relevant. Anything else I need to get her? She will only be attending two morning sessions a week.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

She has a few water bottles , so I don't need to get her that.

Yes, get her a backpack.
Mine needed wellie boots. It’s a good idea to name all shoes and jackets, jumpers, hats and gloves. Basically anything that she might take off!
Is she going to be doing full days or half days? What about meals/snacks? If packed lunch is an option, or if she’s a fussy eater, you might need some snack pots.

Thanks for replying. She is only doing two morning sessions per week and I think they might be getting milk at the school. I think I probably will get some snack pots just in case as I am sure it will come in handy at some point anyway.

Wellies
Backpack
Waterproof suit for the inevitable woodland walks
An old shirt for painting
Trainers if they ever do any form of PE

It's also good to make sure they can wipe their bottoms before they start, makes it ice easier on the teacher

Mine has to take a back pack daily with a change of clothes, jacket, water bottle, snack. Then she has Welly boots to leave there.

Varies between preschools but definitely a bag to put changes of clothes in, warm winter waterproof coat as they play outside a lot in all weathers, wellies, and plenty of changes of clothes that you don’t mind getting ruined/stained!

It varies so much by setting that i wouldn’t buy things until you’ve spoken to the pre-school, especially if she’s only doing a couple of mornings. A rucksack will come in handy later on though even if you don’t need it for pre-school so that’s one thing you could get even if unsure.

Our preschools want them to bring a change of clothes, coat and wellies with name tags and a water bottle.
