Am I allowed to forward a work email to my private email account? It is evidence of bullying, and I would like to have it in my private email for safekeeping.

I dont see why not, unless you work for a Secret Squirrel Organisation.
I send emails to my personal account all the time, and vice versa.
Alternative would be to File>Save the email and then download it to a memory stick.

If the work email addressed to you then Can uou just forward it on. Have you printed out a hard copy.

BashfulClam · 20/08/2020 11:52

I wonder about this too, can they track that. Would you get in trouble for forwarding it if you used it in a meeting.? Maybe print a few copies, one for the bullying file and a coupe so they one doesn’t get ‘lost’.

Yes, they can track it (if organisation has those processes in place - I imagine many small ones won't). Normally for purposes of data loss prevention. I think any company would have a hard time defending disciplining someone for collecting evidence of bullying, as long as there's no customer data or confidential company data contained in the email.
TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 20/08/2020 12:08

As long as it doesn't contain any sensitive data like customer details that would pose a data breach for the organisation and customer.

Lyricallie · 20/08/2020 12:10

Depends on the organisation. I can send nonclassified emails to myself everything else has to stay internal. I would print it out as I have permission to have paper copies of documents.

SE13Mummy · 20/08/2020 12:13

Another alternative would be to screenshot, save that as an image with an unrelated name and email that to your personal account instead. Or photograph the screen with the email on.

Thank you for all your responses.

In my organisation, work run checks on all external emails to check for data loss and that processes followed. We are expressly forbidden from emailing stuff to our personal email. I would print and also photograph the screen.

ThereIsNoSuchThingAsRoadTax · 20/08/2020 13:02

Print to pdf and transfer file to personal storage.

CatBatCat · 20/08/2020 13:15

Save the email as a file and move it on a dongle.

Kitkat05 · 20/08/2020 13:29

We are not allowed. They also track it at our work place.

AmyFl · 20/08/2020 14:39

I have printed it straight from my work email account- thanks for your help- thought it was best to not forward it, I think our emails may be tracked.
