Hi. My DS is due to start reception in September and I have had an email asking me to renew my childcare hours. I have tried to call the LA to see if I need to do this as he is starting FT school but get passed from pillar to post with no answers nearly half an hour later. Do you lovely folk know if I need to do this? do I need to let them know the he won't be needing them now or just ignore the email. Thanks x

Just ignore it.

You just need to ignore it as he is starting full time school.

Those reminders are automatic and would now only be relevant if you had chosen to not send your child to reception to keep them in nursery for another year until the compulsory Year one begins next September.

Ignoring won’t mean you are chased or fined so don’t worry.

This has really been confusing me too! My son starts Reception in September and I had no idea until today that the 30 free hours stop when they begin school! I also think I've confused a number of other parents...Shock

I’ve ignored my email as she doesn’t need the 30 free hours anymore if she is starting in reception!

I had this problem last year when my dd started reception. I ignored the reminder, I think I I might have got another 3 months later which I also ignored. I’ve not heard from them since.
