I thought this was really interesting.

I lie panicking when I wake up in the middle of the night - but it seems it’s the natural thing to do.

More evidence that us humans are not all that suited to modern life?

Bugger it.

Clearly I’m not cut out for modern life 😂

The gist is, back in the day we used to sleep for four hours, get up and potter about it lay and read or shag and then have another four hours.

Everyone. Worldwide. All the time.

The night-time economy and the Industrial Revolution put a stop to it, according to the article. Sleep experts reckon that our unnatural sleep patterns cause us all manner of harm and stress.

I’ve read this before but for many of us it’s a case of not being able to get to sleep at all until 0400, as I have the last two nights. I still have to get up to care for DGC all day, (and overnight sometimes). I’ve been desperate for forty winks all afternoon and I’m not functioning well, eg losing patience with DGC fighting.

I reckon my risk of dementia is thru the roof for all the REM I haven't had over the years. There is feck all I can do about that so I await the bus that will cut short my life instead.

@caramac04 that sounds tough Flowers

@LunaNorth thank you.

REM I can do, deep sleep apparently not. I flit between REM, light sleep and awake with barely any deep sleep unless I've taken my horse tranquillisers strong pain meds.

lljkk · 19/08/2020 18:16

Fitbit says about 18% of my sleep is deep, which is higher than avg, presumably because I get a lot of exercise. My 30 day avg REM is below avg % for other women my age.

I loaned my fitbit to DD and I've lost my sleep numbers (!!) I wonder if I'll get them back when I get fitbit back.
