Christmas Afternoon Tea Edinburgh

Where is lovely in Edinburgh to have a Christmas afternoon tea/cocktails?
Not the Dome - everyone does that

There are a million and one places that do an OK or even quite nice afternoon tea but for a proper special occasion one there are only three places I'd go to: the Waldorf Astoria (use to be the Caley) is my favourite, followed by the Balmoral followed by the Prestonfield (lovely, but a bit further out of town so not ideal if you're on public transport).

Oh how I miss going for afternoon teas. Haven't had one since pre-lockdown.

Was meant to be seeing Dreamgirls that day but it's been postponed so we're looking for something lovely to do in the hope we're not in a winter lockdown by then

The afternoon tea at the Balmoral really is lovely - had it as a birthday treat once.

I had one at the national museum in their restaurant in top floor, it was lovely afternoon and great views
