How does one make a playlist nowadays?

Silly question alert. I'm behind the times
I used to use media player but all my music I had on that doesn't play any more, I guess It's obsolete now?

I want to invite a couple of friends around at some point once our local lockdown is over and I'd like to have some music playing. How does one do this now? Anyone younger than me with any knowledge?

Thanks in advance Smile

Spotify is good. You can just search for a setting and press ‘add to playlist’. You can have multiple playlists (I have separate ones for running, nostalgia, the children, etc.).

Typo: Search for a song, not search for a setting! Sorry!

Spotify. I have recreated all my old compilation tapes and added all my old LPs to my "library".
It's a rabbit hole of loveliness. Prepare never to re-emerge.
The free version does add random songs to your playlists but I just hide them.

I just ask Alexa to add songs to my playlist
