Also if you pay for childcare you usually have to pay for the Mondays that are bank holidays so any other day is better value for money.

Tues & Weds, or Weds & Thurs. You could have some great long weekends away.

When I worked 3 days I did Mon, Tues, Weds which was alright too.

Candacewasalwaysright · 18/08/2020 00:47

I did Wednesday and Thursday so I always had a long weekend and ended up being owed time overall for bank holidays. Would be flexible and do Tuesday instead of Thursday every now and then if there was a staffing problem.

Loved it!

I'd quite fancy working Tuesday & Wednesday, or maybe Wednesday & Thursday. I'd like a very long weekend.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 18/08/2020 00:58

I agree that Mondays are terrible from the pro rata pov for Bank Holidays. Half of them are Mondays so you have to factor them in.
I had a Monday as one of my working days. Wednesday and either Tuesday or Thursday works best most years.

Saturday and Sunday.

  1. most bosses are at home.
  2. only people who want to work go in, so less distractions.
  3. DH has Wendy and Thursday as his days off.
  4. everything is much quieter during the week so I can get things done and easier for appointments etc.
  5. no kids.
Deadringer · 18/08/2020 01:15

Tuesday and wednesday

DoesThisMakeSence · 18/08/2020 01:21

Tuesday & Thursday
I think the idea of a long weekend and a day in between each work day would be nice.

lockdownsunflowers · 18/08/2020 01:44

Depends m the role... and If you're not job sharing it's easier to work later in the week as then you can deal with the build up of emails and messages. Psychologically people are happier if you reply in the same working week. If you work Monday and Tuesday and someone contacts you on eg wed am they are then waiting until the following Monday for your reply. So you end up doing lots of emailing on your days off if you're me

Bloomburger · 18/08/2020 02:20

Monday and Friday.

Monday's everyone is grumpy as it's the start of the week but to you it's Friday and bonus, next working day is actually Friday!

justjuggling · 18/08/2020 04:18

I’d work Tuesday and Wednesday - avoid the typical Monday dramas but still get it out the way early in the week!

AnnaMariaDreams · 18/08/2020 04:22

Tuesday and Thursday.
I’m going back to work soon after 6 months off for Covid (I didn’t have it- just disrupted life!) and doing these two days. It’ll be great. 4 day weekend and a day in the middle to rest and do jobs.

Tulipsinmyvase · 18/08/2020 06:34

Tuesday and Wednesday

Then you have a long weekend every week!

maddiemookins16mum · 18/08/2020 06:45

Tuesday and Wednesday. Once you’ve got through Tuesday there’s only Wednesday to do and a whole 5 days until work again.

beela · 18/08/2020 07:04

I agree, not a Monday for bh purposes. Definitely 2 consecutive days.

I work Weds - Fri, but just a half day on a Friday, it's great.

AuntieStella · 18/08/2020 07:06

I'd go for Tues and Wed, or Tues and Thurs.

Never Monday or Friday.

SD1978 · 18/08/2020 07:10

Tuesday & Wednesday. Long weekends would be possible, and could do an extra day if necessary on a Thursday.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 18/08/2020 07:11

Tuesday and Wednesday for sure.

MinnieMountain · 18/08/2020 07:11

I work 2.5 days a week Tuesday-Thursday. Middle of the week is definitely best.

homemadecommunistrussia · 18/08/2020 07:13

Any day but Wednesday I love a Wednesday off. Better than the weekend.

Marmite27 · 18/08/2020 07:14

Wednesday and Thursday as the kids are already in nursery those days.

wintertime6 · 18/08/2020 07:15

I would do tues and wed. Working Mondays if you're part time doesn't work out well with the bank holidays. Basically, you'll get the same number of days holiday entitlement to use for both annual leave and bank hols. If the bank holiday falls on a day you work (Monday) then this come out of your leave entitlement. If you don't normally work that day, then you still have that day to take off whenever you want. So it's the same amount of time off overall, but you have more flexibility to take your days when you want to if you don't have to use days up for bank holidays.

wintertime6 · 18/08/2020 07:18

And I like having a Monday off. I tend to get up early and go for a run and then get a lot of stuff sorted round the house etc and it makes me feel like I'm really set up for the week ahead.

LioneIRichTea · 18/08/2020 07:21

Tuesday and Wednesday. Because then Monday wouldn’t be too bad and when there’s a bank hol you have 5 days off in a row. Or Thursday Friday for that reason.

LioneIRichTea · 18/08/2020 07:22

Oh sorry thought you meant which two days off! Hmm I’d work Monday and Tuesday still actually
