New Jamie Oliver programme. Bolognese with cutted up lasagne. Ground breaking.

The man's a knob.

MrsSpookyM · 17/08/2020 21:27

I'd love to chin him.

losenotloose · 17/08/2020 21:35

Why do people hate Jamie Oliver?

I'd love to chin him.
Really? Says more about you than anything.
TheOrchidKiller · 17/08/2020 21:43

God, has he only just realised that you can put bolognaise sauce with any pasta?

Sometimes we mix two different types together, depending on what's left in the cupboard. Macaroni & penne at the same time!

I am clearly wasting my time here. Should be writing my own food blog, full of these revolutionary ideas, & making a fortune!

GlummyMcGlummerson · 17/08/2020 21:45

On the bright side Aldi will be stocking Turkey Twizzlers again

BuffaloCauliflower · 17/08/2020 21:46

If you hate him don’t watch him? Why the vitriol?

WarriorsComeOutToPlayay · 17/08/2020 21:46

I like Jamie, he really inspired me to cook in my teens. I really don't get all the nastiness towards him.

yawnsvillex · 17/08/2020 21:47

Me too @WarriorsComeOutToPlayay !

Bargebill19 · 17/08/2020 21:48

Have I missed something? I always thought pasta was just pasta - albeit cut into different shapes- but them
Same ingredients mixed the same and cooked the same. (Ok lasagne is baked not boiled).

Wanky pasta / parmesan Wink

Bargebill19 · 17/08/2020 21:51

Oh! Nuff said

whynotwhen · 17/08/2020 21:52

Barge!! My Italian nonna would be turning in her grave! The shape of pasta is so important, different shapes hold the sauces differently...

Neverrrrrrr serve bolognese sauce with spaghetti eh? Long flat pasta such as tagliatelle or pappardelle... yummm.

Oh now I want pasta. Dammit

MiddleClassProblem · 17/08/2020 21:53

I bet he thinks he’s being smart as lasagne sheets were all that were left when the pasta shelves were emptied back in March/April. Times have changed!

MrsHound · 17/08/2020 21:54

Jamie Oliver is well meaning but unfortunately very irritating.

Amen to this. Though I suppose by cutting up lasagne sheets he is essentially making some tagliatelle or linguine.

Spaghetti should come almost exclusively with vongole!

HolyCorona · 17/08/2020 22:16

@Lurchermom not just making tagliatelle, more stabbing lasagne sheets.

I don't dislike him, just would like to see some innovation.

Was going to say the same thing. My Italian DH has taught me this, I was sceptical until I tried orecchiette con broccoli except with conchiglie because we had no orecchiette left. How wrong I was... it DOES make a difference.
TinyMetalBirds · 17/08/2020 22:26

I watched it with DS1 (aged 12). We thought the pasta was cool, and will try it.

Bargebill19 · 17/08/2020 22:42

I humbly apologise to all Italian mamas everywhere. I’m a mere lass from the welsh borders.

But now I want pasta too!

goose1964 · 17/08/2020 22:51

We had homemade lasagne tonight (DD's birthday). I now want spaghetti vongole.

Anniissa · 17/08/2020 23:02

I don’t get the hate for Jamie Oliver. If you don’t like his style then don’t watch. Apart from the high end innovation of the Heston or Rene Redzepi types there is very little that is new in cooking. Jamie seems to be very passionate about making things accessible to most home cooks and certainly when I was first starting experimenting with new things his books were a good start at easy accessible simple recipes.
