Is this a relationship red flag?

If you found out DPs family had cut off various family members over the years and had little to no contact with almost all of them would you think this was a red relationship flag?

The reasons for cutting off people is always their fault - its never the fault of ILs..

Would you think this would mean they would do the same to you and cause trouble for you and DP?

I’d definitely be wondering who ACTUALLY did the cutting off.

I'd be concerned that my partner's family is very dysfunctional and how growing up in that environment affected him. It is a red flag for me.

I had a ex once where his family didn't speak to anyone and it was everybody's fault but theirs. Long story short, they were all nasty people and have raised a spineless coward of a son who dumped me by text. I heard later (which was too late and I wish I had known this before) that they easily discarded people romantic relationship wise, business wise and family wise.

Yes, I am very questioning of who actually did the cutting off!

DP seems to ignore it and be very vague. It just seems very unlikely that they are NC with almost all of the family because all of those family members were unpleasant to them!

They will only drive a wedge if your dp or you allow it. It may be a red flag but it doesn't mean your dp will be the same. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt atm but that's just me
