Sainsbury’s delivery pass.

Can anyone explain this to me ( yes I have looked and FAQ on their site)
Some of these have popped up as available locally. Do I want one?

I was thinking it’d be useful for Christmas. Do I get a slot no matter what. I haven’t been able to get a slot in Sainsbury’s since before lockdown.
Thanks

How do you mean they’ve popped up locally - how are you finding these? I can only see a page that says buy a delivery pass and I didn’t think they were available right now.

Given they are still prioritising people on their vulnerable list I’m not sure how you could be guaranteed a slot. Maybe ring them and ask

I had a delivery pass with Sainburys. I cancelled its renewal (due April) when it was obvious I was
a) not going to get a refund for not being able to use it
b) not going to be able to book slots for months
A delivery pass DOES NOT give you priority for booking slots, it just means you get free delivery if you spend over £40 (on the days its valid). Maybe they've had so many delivery pass holders in your area not renewing their passes due to lack of service (with no refunds! ) that they've decided to start selling them again.

Can’t say for Sainsbury’s but Tesco pass gives you priority access to when slots are released, it paused during lockdown but now my mum gets her slots 4 weeks in advance where everyone else is 3 weeks. (Pre covid she could book slots within a day at any time, now it’s 4 weeks or nothing) At Christmas you go get priority access but it doesn’t guarantee a slot. Some are saved for general releases mum has always been lucky because I stay up till midnight to get the skit but I suspect this year will be a problem

I’ve used Sainsburys a lot over recent years.
Never paid for delivery.
If you can spend more than hundred pounds ( do a fortnightly shop if your weekly spend is less than this?) and have it delivered mon-Thursday after 1pm .... free delivery.
No problem getting slots here now, just need to be organised and book a few days to a week in advance.

It does give you priority, but you're not guaranteed a slot. Slots are released to vulnerable people first, then pass holders, then everyone else.

I think availability of slots is entirely dependent on your area - here availability is pretty much back to normal. The pass doesn’t guarantee you a slot, just free delivery if you spend over £40 and your pass is valid for the day/time you want.

We have priority access to Sainsbury’s and get our slots one week in advance.

Righty thank you. Still thinking about it.
@lilylion seems to be as @Weneedmusicandtheatre says in my area.

I had deliveries from Sainsbury’s throughout lockdown. Recently they offered me a regular slot - same time and day every week

Can I ask how they did this - did they email you?

I called customer service to ask about something else and they mentioned that someone should be in touch to offer a regular slot but we never heard anything.

Sorry to hijack the thread

We've had a delivery pass with Sainsbury's since 2016 costing £35 every 6 months. I've always found it great and easy to book slots and pre lockdown got two shops a week delivered. Sometimes I would do a bulky items shop for my parents in addition to their address which was also included provided it was on a different day to my shops.

Even in lockdown I was able to book one slot every 7 days which was brilliant as I could shop for us, my recently widowed vulnerable dad, a few elderly neighbours and my friends mum who is very isolated and far from a supermarket.

However I think my area was lucky though that they already had good coverage of deliveries and plenty of drivers in circulation with three Sainsbury's in our town area. I've not tried it yet as no need but I think they've relaxed the every 7 day rule now so in theory I could start having more deliveries (not that I need or want them)

DH joked that the amount we've spent since March they can probably buy a few new vans locally now too GrinBlush
