If you are in someone else's house and need to use the loo.

Do you:

A) Say something along the lines of "I'm just nipping to the loo"
B) Get up and leave room without saying a word

A definitely!
I'd wonder where you were going if you didn't...

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 17/08/2020 13:20

I say 'Is it OK if I use the loo, please?'

Getting up and leaving the room without saying anything would be extremely rude.

cariadlet · 17/08/2020 13:22

My dm or dsis, I'd say that I was just popping to the toilet. If it was anyone else's house, I'd ask if it was ok to use the toilet.

I said I’m just going to the loo during a meeting as didn’t want to just stand up and walk out... got told that I was ‘over sharing’ was a bit awks!

OldEvilOwl · 17/08/2020 13:26

Neither! I would ask if I could use their toilet

Twickerhun · 17/08/2020 13:29

I instinctively say please can I borrow your toilet and then get the predictable hilarious response that can I return it after use etc. I wouldn’t just go. I would always ask

SnuggyBuggy · 17/08/2020 13:35

I'm uptight so say bathroom

Bluntness100 · 17/08/2020 13:37

Depends how well I know them. If I’ve been before and it’s just me and them, I’d say popping to the loo, if I’ve not been before I’d ask if I could use the loo. If there was a group of us and I’d been before I’d just go and not say anything,

lolalolalol · 17/08/2020 13:40

Parents and ILs house plus close friends I will just go unless we are mid convo where I will say excuse me I'm just going to the bathroom. Others I will ask whether I can use the bathroom.

Gizlotsmum · 17/08/2020 13:41

In a meeting I would leave the room with apologies, in someone's house I would ask/say dependent on how close we are...

JustCallMeGriffin · 17/08/2020 13:49

The only place I'll go to the bathroom without checking with the host first is my parents. Anywhere else I'll either excuse myself for a moment (work) or actually check it's OK to use someone's bathroom.

Although it's all a moot point at the moment because I'm not allowed in anyone's house apart from my parents!

User563420011 · 17/08/2020 14:04

It depends whose house it is.
Parents, or my best friends, I just use it, same as she does mine.
Others, I will ask (or maybe inform, depending on how well I know them).

beautifulxdisasters · 17/08/2020 14:06

Doesn't it depend how long you're there for?

If I was staying with someone for a week I wouldn't say "I'm just nipping to the loo" every time I went! If I was there for 2 hours and we were sat chatting in the same room then I would, to excuse myself from the conversation!
