@HolyPillow My dad was killed in the Falklands war at sea when I was 10. No body, he was just out there somewhere and never recovered. I didn't twig that's why I didn't like the sea until a few years ago!

Torn on the paternoster lift issue.

I quite liked using a paternoster - but not bucket or anti bucket list material in my view.

My anti bucket list would include
bungee jumping
parachute jump
climbing Kilimanjaro or Everest - in fact anything which required you to be 'roped up'
scuba diving
eating the Japanese poisonous fish dish

swimming with dolphins and seeing the sunrise over Angkor Wat? They’re so generic and bland.

Are they? Some people must lead really exciting lives

Some of mine I've successfully avoided so far -

Attend a barn dance
Be in the vicinity of a hog roast
Camp in any way, shape or form
Go on a bat walk
Ride a unicycle
Participate in a flash mob
Be the victim of a surprise party
Go on a murder mystery weekend

Skydive over Antarctica

Bungee jumping or surf down into an active volcano

Deep sea/ocean diving especially with sharks
And

Sleep on the edge of a cliff

Stranded on a desert island even if French Polynesia

Spend time in a prison cell (but had visited South Africa Robben Island Mandela cell)

@HunkyPunk, probably some people genuinely desperately want to swim with dolphins, but I can’t imagine that an overwhelming majority of everyone who’s ever made a bucket list does, any more than everyone wants to learn fire eating or walk the Appalachian Trail — yet it shows up all the time. Presumably from people who think its the kind of thing you put on a bucket list.

Eat meat.
Watch a musical.
Visit Dubai.
Wear Uggs.
Eat at McDonalds.

I’ve bungee jumped and can confirm it is awful. YANBU.

Envious of those who got to go as kids but I'll not fret on my deathbed about missing it now.

Anything involving jumping from a great height
Go to the USA
Go to butlins/haven/pontins

Run a marathon/do a triathlon, anything else that involves pain/discomfort.
Go on a boat anywhere (get horribly seasick).
I'm very lucky I've done most of the things I wanted to do, have become fairly risk averse these days.
Oh, build my own house, the stress.

Drink Malibu
Go diving, caving or bungee jumping
Get a cat
Attend a 'pot-luck supper'
Watch a drag show
Wear heels

Eat snails
Eat squid or octopus
Go camping

A big clubbing holiday in Ibiza or Aiya Napa.

Climb a mountain
Run a marathon/iron man etc
Stay in a hostel
Go to the running of the bulls

I think that’s it. I’m not sure about that tomato festival either...
