Inexpensive days out Yorkshire

Hi all!

Coming up, week after next, we'll be having DSC for a full week.

We have planned a trip to the seaside (Scarborough) for one night at the beginning of the week and another to Filey for a day rock-pooling with my parents at the end of the week.

I'm looking for inexpensive day trips we can do as a family in between. Happy to travel around Yorkshire. We're a family of four. DSD is 9 and DSS is 5.

I feel awful that they won't have a proper holiday this year. Both myself and DP are key workers and have worked throughout so this is a much looked forward to week off for us both, but we don't have a huge budget due to spending money on home improvements lately.

Recommendations gratefully received!

Dalby forest. Yorkshire Sculpture park. Castle Howard. Though maybe not the castle as it's really expensive.

York itself has loads to do that is free or inexpensive but check what's open.

Depends where you are in Yorkshire. It’s a big place! York for a day and walk round the walls, museums in Leeds, Yorkshire Mining Museum, Yorkshire Sculpture Park (fee payable at YSP). Your own ideas and Never’s are Good. Coastal walks?? Check out what’s on locally.

Thanks all. We're West Yorkshire and have done many of the things mentioned but it would be good to revisit some now the DC are older! Some great ideas!

Elvington Air Museum near York, if you get to Sewerby Park in Bridlington early you get in free. RSPB at Bempton - parking is free, you can walk to the cliffs on the footpath to the left of the coach park, you don't have to pay to go through the building, they just pretend that you have to. Free museums in Hull, transport one is good, Fort Paull is a bit odd, but cheap and quite good fun.
