Air conditioning unit -anyone got a good one?

Bought one for nearly £300, it's noisy, bulky and has a massive hose that falls out the back constantly, bought it after reading loads of reviews so quite disappointed.
Of course sending it back.

Has anyone got a good one????

This thread is from a few years ago so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but we’ve recently updated our best air conditioner page with lots of great Mumsnetter-approved portable, compact AC units to help you beat the heat this summer! We hope it’s useful.

I think you need to go wall mounted.

All the freestanding units I’ve used at work have been noisy & the one I bought was noisy as fuck.

We have a ceiling fan now.

It's out of stock so not much help but we bought this and it's excellent. So much so we bought a second one for upstairs.

It's about as noisy as a fan on full power. Wouldn't want to sleep with it next to my head but it's fine. My baby has slept with it in her room

Has anyone had a wall mounted one fitted in a bedroom? Just wondering how much space is needed inside and outside and how noisy is it?

We had one fitted this summer. Wasn't cheap (£2k with installation) but it is whisper quiet, so you can sleep easily at night. Couldn't get to sleep with a portable aircon in our room, the racket was too much. I was worried about the noise the exterior fan would make, but because it's a modern heat pump design, makes hardly any noise. Also does heating in winter, so I don't need to run heating for the whole house when I'm working up in the attic. Heartily recommend - on those days you need it, you really need it!

We have a Mitsubishi zen unit in the bedroom- it’s amazing and super quiet
