What are you looking forward to?

It's a bit grey and miserable here. I'm re-reading a book about happiness that suggests it's important to have things to look forward to, and I realise that a lack of stuff to look forward to is contributing to my general low mood. Life just feels like a bit of a slog and I don't want to feel like this any more.

Please inspire me with things you are looking forward to, big or small because I just can't think of anything to put on my list Sad

Going to London for a couple of days next week, specifically booked to give us something to look forward to and lift mine and DP's mood. I really want to look forward to it and I'm trying really hard. I'm a bit concerned it will be so far removed from the London I'm used to though that I'm actually getting a bit stressed!
That is what this awful situation has done to us.

I think I know what you mean @Ghostlyglow. Are there little aspects that will be the same do you think, like waking up in the hotel room?

I know this may cause eye-rolling in some quarters, but I'm going to put a luxury bubble bath in my calendar for Friday night and make it the best bubble bath I can think of (box of chocolates, candles, new book etc.).

I also fancy a picnic on a city river bank. I was thinking of York, but don't fancy public transport under current conditions and is it me, or is driving in York a nightmare?

It's the little things to give you a hint of normality, isn't it?
I live in Yorkshire and although I haven't been to York for ages, I've heard that it has been very busy. Not a good place to drive to. There used to be park and ride from car parks out of the centre but I've no idea if they are running again. It depends where you are travelling from but if you are on a Cross Country trains route, I don't think their trains are that busy.

The parks and rides in York are running. It’s lovely there.

In the next 2 weeks we have lots of fun plans-,eating out, day trips, couple of nights away.
After the 3rd September (back to school/ work) there’s nothing at all and I’m finding that hard. I’m a planner!
Starting my Christmas shopping!

Bless you. That's a horrible feeling, makes me feel down too.

It's a busy month for us, and I'm looking forward to submitting my doctoral thesis and moving house. I would recommend either if those if it's short term happiness you are after!

Looking forward to our puppy arriving at the beginning of November.

Also, to the next time we get to our chalet in France, but who knows when the will be?

Little things:
My son's new coat arriving. He chose it himself. It's not what I'd have gone for but he loves it.
Slow roast pork belly this evening
Getting my first haircut in 6 months
The Antiques Roadshow
Seeing lovely friends for a long, soggy walk tomorrow.

Mostly, the kids being back in school Grin

It is my birthday in 2 weeks. I'm looking forward to spending time with friends and going out for a few drinks.

I'm looking forward to DS going back to school and being around children his own age.

I recently moved into my first owned house and I'm getting some decorating done next month, it will be nice to see things coming together.
