What did you think were great baby names when you were younger and how do you feel about them now?

Found an old diary from when I was about 9, and apparently I was adamant if I had 2 daughters they would be called Bethany Jade and Jenna Sylfae. I don’t hate those names now but they probably wouldn’t make the shortlist!

Did anyone else have names picked out for future children a long time in advance? Did you end up using them or have a complete change of heart?

I was never going to have children! (I’m not planning on sending DS back though ).

I had a doll called Jemima and another called Elizabeth. Neither of those names would suit DS- although I like them both. DH had such a desire to use Emma that I agreed he could have that for a girl, so I got free reign on boys’ names.

I loved Olivia and Theodore back in my teen years. Unfortunately they became as common as muck!

I liked Ariana (which I can’t use now due to the pop singer) and Oscar (which also became common).

I wonder if anything I like now will become overly popular in 15/20 years?!

I love gemstone names! I read The Ordinary Princess when I was little and her and her sisters all have gemstone names. I also love flower/plant/nature names, although when I was planning on having kids I was going to call a girl Amy Jane and a boy Tuomas John.
(I decided against having kids and instead wrote a story, my MC is Amy and all her kids have gemstone names.)

I had twin dolls as a child. One of their names is my DD’s middle name!
