Blue Light Card

I've recently been employed by the NHS and looked into getting the blue light card. It asks for a copy of your payslip or your NHS card and I just wanted to know if that's okay. It seems like you're handing over your data. Anyone got one and can reassure me this is safe? Thank you ☺️

They're fine. Morrisons dont take them though.

I didn't have to give any details of my pay slip, just had to have it sent to my work place rather than home so they know you work where you say you do?, have saved loads with it

Redglitter · 15/08/2020 21:00

As pp said you can get it sent to work but you're only giving them a photocopy of your payslip etc there's not much they can do with that. You probably give a lot more info to other sites if you think about it

I think I sent a screen shot of my NHS ID. It’s better for online use I think as a lot of shops prefer the NHS ID instead

WhamRap · 15/08/2020 21:11

Thank you everyone.
Glad to hear you can save loads with it.
I don't have a Morrisons near me so that's not a problem!

Morrisons are giving 10% off every shop for NHS staff, including home deliveries.

Just FYI some places that state they do NHS discount actually don't accept Blue Lights Card and will only accept your work photo ID. That's why I never bothered getting one and always just used my ID.

I didn’t have to provide either of those things OP. Just my nhs email address and work details. There were a couple of weeks of them checking my details before the card was sent to my work address.
I had to pay £5 online when I did the application process.
It may have changed though; I’ve had my BLC about 2 years now.

Bananabread8 · 15/08/2020 21:21

I ordered the BlueLightCard card this year (finally). You get a lot more offers LNER have 35% off train tickets. JD and a schuh have 20% off. Krispy cremes have 50% off everything in store.

There’s some really good savings. I screen shotted my ID badge and ordered it to work too.

Livedandlearned · 15/08/2020 21:42

I didn't have to do the payslip thing or id card either, but I have my payroll number. Maybe they've changed it.

Livedandlearned · 15/08/2020 21:43

And they do have really good discounts online.

Enderman · 15/08/2020 22:24

I didn’t have to do either, just used my work email address.

Kgs · 03/06/2024 11:44

How long does it take for the card to be delivered? I did my application 10days ago.

Livedandlearned · 15/06/2024 08:55

2 weeks I think it was
