So, does my adult son who lives with us but didn’t travel need to quarantine?

We are due back from France next week. DH and I can WFH so we aren’t too worried about the 14 day quarantine.

DS is adult and didn’t come on the holiday, he stayed at home. Does he need to quarantine too as he will be in contact with us?

Not according to the government's illogical rules, no. You're also fine to get home on public transport if you need to.

No, he doesn’t.

Thanks both. Something that also occurred to me, is our travel insurance still valid now?

No, only if you develop symptoms. It obviously wouldn't help if you are asymptomatic but if for example you were unlucky enough to catch it on the journey back, you would probably not be infectious immediately, you might be infectious on say day 3 and then develop symptoms on day 5, if ds then isolated immediately it would be two days after you become infectious so hopefully before he too became infectious. It doesn't always develop at the same rate in everyone hence the need to isolate for 14 days.

Your travel insurance is valid if you travelled before the quarantine was put in place, as the gov guidance states that those already in the country should continue their holidays.
