Devil's itch

I got sunburnt on my back on Tuesday and now I'm full in Devil's itch. I can't reach it all to apply aloe vera myself, and DH was up all night so letting him sleep.

Is there anything else I can do?

Can you put the aloe Vera on a towel and then lie down on it?

Bobbiepin · 15/08/2020 07:43

I'll give it a go. My DM will be here tomorrow and she cannot know I got burnt. (Big history of skin cancer in the family, she'll only worry unnecessarily).

There is a video doing the rounds of a woman putting sun tan lotion on her back with a paint roller, so you could give that a go Smile

Sounds like a brilliant idea. I've just had my second shower in an hour. Uts the only thing that helps. I want to slice my skin off with a razor blade and cry myself to sleep!

Ouch! Its a bit late now but if you ever need to again if you put the lotion on the back of your hands I find I can reach the bits I couldn't with my palms!

Cling film or something else that will rub it on for you?

I feel your pains. I got sunburn really bad for the first time in my life a few months ago and I couldn't sleep for the pain of it. I had to lie with a wet towel on it at night.

I had a wet tea towel on overnight, it's still itchy, feeling very tight and peeling. I'm so annoyed at myself, its clearly worse than I anticipated. Even a week in it hurt for DH to put suncream on this morning. I was severely burnt as a child, I know better.

Oh hugs that agony, sunburn is rotten as a child and teen I was red every holiday today I still burn, but am more careful now as an adult.

I'm bathing in factor 50 before going outside anywhere at the moment. It is starting to tan which has left me all uneven. Somehow my feet are more tanned than my legs, looks so stupid!

Damp towel is best for taking the heat out.

Sympathies, I did the same last week. Fortunately I had kids i could make put the aloe Vera on!

Can you take ibuprofen? That or any other painkillers should help take it down a notch. The bad itch doesn't last long, maybe a wine or two would help too GrinWine

Aloe Vera gel (the 99% stuff) and sudocrem both help take the pain and redness away.
