Bed bugs? I'm so worried!

I've found 5 bites on my legs. 2 on one thigh, 3 on the other. I've attached a photo of the leg with 2 bites. Those two are a straight horizontal line and the leg with three they are in a slightly curved vertical line.

I've checked my bed and I can't see anything untoward. Help Sad

Mosquito in your bedroom?

dementedpixie · 14/08/2020 13:29

Thats a big gap between them. Probably not bedbugs

PlanDeRaccordement · 14/08/2020 13:33

It could be bed bugs. Remember they look like tiny sesame seeds and are only dark if they’ve recently drank some blood. They live in the cracks of bed frames, also between floor boards, etc so you have to look very very closely to actually see them. If yes to these questions, other signs might be bed bugs:
Did you have any rust/ blood spots on your sheets?
Were your legs in PJ bottoms or under the covers?

Look closely at bites, if two punctures per bite, then they were spider bite.

Could also be mites not bed bugs- do you have pets?

PlanDeRaccordement · 14/08/2020 13:34

If you legs were uncovered, then likely a mosquito or midge bite.

thelistener · 14/08/2020 13:52

dreaded mozzie probably. They plague me!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 14/08/2020 14:01

have you been staying away anywhere or brought new furnishings in lately?

if no, then its very unlikely to be bedbugs, probably a mozzie, midge or flea.

ArialAnna · 14/08/2020 14:07

Bedbug bites are horrifically itchy - much worse than mosquito bites. Just one bedbug bite drove me crazy till I got my hands on some antihistamines. 5 bites would be horrendous I think. If they are just mildly or moderately itchy they are unlikely to be bedbugs.

Spam88 · 14/08/2020 14:11

They don't particularly look like bedbug bites - there's normally two or three very close together.

No blood spots on your sheets? Black dots? Check the elastic at the corners, that's where mine had laid all their eggs 🤢

And they're not sesame seed sized, they're more like an apple pip.

Disgusting, hideous things, but I don't think you have cause to panic op!

I would have thought with the weather we are having it would just be fly bites.

Not fleas. They go for extremities and bony bits- hands, feet, elbows, knees, ears, etc.

PlanDeRaccordement · 14/08/2020 14:54

As for how itchy any bite is, it depends on the individual. Some react worse to mosquitos than bed bugs, or vice versa. You can use it as a measuring stick for yourself, as you know how you react to certain bites, but there is no rule that bed bug bites are horrifically itchy for everyone.

Do you have a cat or dog. I know PP says not fleas but I have seen flea bites in various places.
