Could be such a lovely home, but the through grey makes it soooo boring.

I do like a bit of grey but yes that's an awful lot! Also get so frustrated when they've converted the garage.

ItchyScratch · 14/08/2020 12:48

Hmm it’s not the worst I’ve seen. Nice and clean at least.

But the room with the home made bar and couch is tacky central.

Bit of a crap garden too. Maybe alright in snow and you can sledge down it

RJnomore1 · 14/08/2020 12:48

That’s a great house to buy. The record fresh and completely neutral but modern neutral so you can go in add all the colour you want with furniture and accessories without having to spend a fortune decorating.

missmarplesapprentice · 14/08/2020 12:50

@DrMadelineMaxwell

Saw this thread title and thought I'd link a house which came to mind as we had been househunting…..it was this very advert!

Glad I am not the only one to dislike the GREY GREY GREY. Houses in that area generally move well if priced right. This has been priced based on someone walking in and needing to do nothing...plus I hate a converted garage (doesn't add value for me) where am I meant to hoard all the things I probably don't need Grin

BigRedBoat · 14/08/2020 12:51

By the time all their furniture and curtains were removed it would be easy to add your own colour choices, I don't see the problem really.

Pineapplemonkey · 14/08/2020 12:52

@HouchinBawbags

I'm a magnolia fan. All my walls are magnolia except the feature wall and my decor colour is the furniture, decorations and curtains etc. The magnolia walls are like a plain canvas but this grey obsession makes the whole thing bland and colourless. I'll be glad to see the back of it tbh along with Avocado bathroom suites.
Shows how different we all are- I can't abide magnolia. My house had been entirely newly painted in it when I bought it and it all had to go, I think it looks nicotine stained and reminds me of old people!
notheragain4 · 14/08/2020 12:54

@Pineapplemonkey oh I agree I can't stand magnolia, too many bad memories in dated rental houses! If it needs to be neutral, white works for me.

userxx · 14/08/2020 12:54

Looks like the photos are all shot in black and white

Doesn’t it !!! I thought my eyes were failing me for a second.

I like a bit of grey but that looks so drab.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 14/08/2020 12:54

Must be like living inside a battleship Confused

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 14/08/2020 12:54

I don't mind grew wells, just another neutral really, but I absolutely can't stand grey laminate flooring, or the grey crushed velvet and the mirrored furniture. DPs mum has redone her house like that with a bit more black and lots of diamanté tat. It's just awful, and I know MN hates this word but ultimate chav decor.

HeronLanyon · 14/08/2020 12:56

Good lord looks exactly as though a nearby volcano spewed ash everywhere !

Biglumpycustard · 14/08/2020 13:13

A lot of grey, but it’s still nice.

rosiethehen · 14/08/2020 13:20

Nafftastic Grin

Seriously, colour can subconsciously affect mood, so I'd be worried that all these grey houses were making the occupants depressed or at least miserable.

Ishihtzuknot · 14/08/2020 13:30

I love a bit of grey but this is awful, every home needs a bit of colour to brighten it up! It just looks boring and dull like the Hinch household, cold and no personality (her and the house)

DistinguishedCarrot · 14/08/2020 13:38

I like a bit of grey, but that really is too much. The estate agent's photos aren't great either though (or should that be grey-t!) as it makes the house look so dark, when actually a lot of the grey is on a brighter side.

It's been on the market quite a long time now too.

The garden would be the deal breaker for me though - it's easy to add colour to a grey house, but there's no using that lawn! Doesn't look fun to mow either.

Hate magnolia. My whole house was magnolia when we bought it and the first thing we did was repaint every room white. It’s so much lighter now!
CormoranStrike · 14/08/2020 13:44

@iswhois

It's a nice house but the decor is awful

I think a lot of people with no taste just greywash everything because they think it goes.

It looks like council house chic to me.

Wow, dismissive much? By all means have a disagreement over colour, but that last sentence is awfully snobby.
googybob · 14/08/2020 13:45

I love grey but not when it's done like this. It's so weird that this is a thing.

thriftyhen · 14/08/2020 13:57

You'd have to keep checking that you hadn't gone colour blind!

googybob · 14/08/2020 14:02

grey wall fine no difference to magnolia or white, it's neutral. Same for a carpet but why the grey sofa, grey light, grey pictures & soft furnishings. Always with some crushed velvet, mirror effect & sparkles thrown in.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 14/08/2020 14:05

The grey children's room is actually really sad.

vixxo · 14/08/2020 14:19

Looks so tacky.

Siablue · 14/08/2020 14:21

It looks like it was decorated by Eeyore. A bit of grey is ok in its place. It’s just the lack of any other colour.

organicapricot · 14/08/2020 14:22

I like grey but that's a bit too much. If you're thinking of buying it though then of course you can bring a bit of colour in with your own furniture and accessories so wouldn't necessarily put me off it.

JaneJeffer · 14/08/2020 15:42

Hinch army quarters.
