Anyone else exhausted but not sleeping? I dozed off for 15 mins earlier today as I was utterly exhausted and now I’m wide awake. DH is snoring away and all the dc are sound.

Got lots going on at the moment, also waiting for medical appts, test results etc which are not helped with them all being telephone/video consults are present.

Hey OP, snap! I've been awake since yesterday morning except for a 30 minute snooze after I drifted off sat on my bed waiting for bathroom around lunchtime today. Outside of my bed I'm fighting the drowsiness, as soon as I lay down I'm wide awake ... 🙄

stepmumSW5 · 14/08/2020 01:19

I can't sleep, DH is snoring and farting in his sleep. 🤦🏻‍♀️

PulyaSochsup · 14/08/2020 01:21

Looking after poorly DD downstairs, she's got the sofa. I'm in an armchair with my feet up. Not particularly conducive to sleep for me.

@PulyaSochsup hope dd feels better soon and you manage to get some rest.

Don’t think the heats helping any of us either. @somedayillbesaturdaynite you’ve hit the nail on the head about daytime exhaustion and dozing off anywhere else but in bed!

Every bloody night! Sleep 3 hours max, spend my days absolutely on my arse from exhaustion but soon as my head hits the pillow my brain plays silly beggars and off we go again.

somedayillbesaturdaynite · 14/08/2020 01:38

I've been blaming (likely) peri-menopausal hormones but you're right. Keeping my mind amused and distracted watching the 🌩 using this if it helps anyone

My brain has decided it is time to be awake and alert. It is part cat.

wilde85 · 14/08/2020 01:48

I am awake... stupidly hot and restless legs. I think Hermes was delivering our rain as it hadn't arrived! Grin

Furries · 14/08/2020 01:51

@TorkTorkBam - nooooo, cats are too blooming good at snoozing for hours on end. You need to be thanking (blaming) your inner dolphin.

I wish I was a cat, I really need to get my boy to teach me some snoozing tricks!

PulyaSochsup · 14/08/2020 01:58

Thanks Toughgig, she has coeliac disease and she's been very upset about missing school. The heat makes everything worse. Hope we all manage to rest for a while, tomorrow looks as though it will be hot again.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/08/2020 02:01

It’s not so much the heat as the humidity IMO. Stupidly humid here tonight.

Looking at that map the nearest thunderstorm seems to be moving in the opposite direction. Sad

NotBeingFunnyOrAnything · 14/08/2020 02:29

I'm awake. Tummy ache, hot and hungry - on a low carb diet so just ate a handful of nuts and played candy crush.

Sierramike · 14/08/2020 02:37

Bedroom was too hot. Went outside to cool down but it was too cold. Back in hot bedroom.

WitchesGlove · 14/08/2020 02:48

Taken two zopiclone tonight, hope they kick in soon

LadyB49 · 14/08/2020 02:51

I have restless legs syndrome and related insomnia 30+ years. Usually manage about 3 hours sleep at about 7am.
A sleep study last month that I paid for privately shows I have moderate sleep apnea and have now been referred to NHS for treatment but the waiting list is 3 years!!
Doesn't look like I'll get a night's sleep any time soon.

ginandbearit · 14/08/2020 03:29

Wideawake club member here ...went to sleep at 12 ish but been awake since 3..mild indigestion but no gaviscon so sitting up right , reading this and worrying about finances, granddaughter, future , all the other horrors these early hours encourage .
No storms yet so still muggy ...hope you all get some rest soon ..

garlictwist · 14/08/2020 03:45

I fall asleep fine but then wake up mega early and that's me for the day. Sigh. I wish I could lie in. Even til 5am.

Tori2005 · 14/08/2020 03:50

Wow there are lots of people like me! Hello!
Also sleep for a few hours then wide awake and always seem to be hungry. Fighting the urge not to get cereal and turn the tv on. Work tomorrow will be fun.... not.

heartonastring · 14/08/2020 03:57

Wide awake here. 32 weeks pregnant and so hot! The room is stifling.
Dh starts a new job tomorrow after being made redundant in may so he's been nervously tossing and turning but soundo (and plenty of snoring!)
I find when I can't sleep in the night like this my head does a "greatest hits" of heartsonastring's biggest life disasters and blunders. It's currently replaying a scenario where I cried in front of my boss because I made a mistake at work!

Sierramike · 14/08/2020 05:08

@garlictwist is it nice having time to yourself, though?

garlictwist · 14/08/2020 06:00

It is, but I don't have kids and my partner leaves for work at 630am so I already have a huge amount of "me time", especially as I'm working from home at the mo.

OverTheRainbow88 · 14/08/2020 06:04

You should ask your GP for a referral to SLEEPSTATION, it’s an online course for insomnia and is excellent. Can pay for it but it’s expensive and GP can refer for free.

Sleep hygiene (bleh I can’t believe I said those words 🤮) is key! So you all shouldn’t be on your phones after 9pm- morning!

Cut out red wine/choc/ice cream in the eve and had a bedtime routine!

I genuinely wanted to end my life at one point as my sleep was so terrible every single day for about 4 years. But I’ve started really following all the sleep rules and it’s really helped. If I have 4 bad nighty sin a row I take a sleeping pill for 2 Days to try and reset!

Sierramike · 14/08/2020 06:17

Might ask about that @OverTheRainbow88, thanks

OverTheRainbow88 · 14/08/2020 06:25

@Sierramike

Fab! Hope it helps! So I saw the course advertised and called my GP who hadn’t heard of it... 🙄, but then they looked into it and said yes they could refer... so don’t be surprised if initially you’re GP has no idea what you’re talking about.

This is the link:

www.sleepstation.org.uk/

But it’s free when a GP refers.
