ADs deflower male cucumbers for the Greater Good. All phallic aubergines welcome .

Because bitter male cucumbers don't bring joy, but phallic aubergines can raise an irreverent smile.

AD chat continues about life, the universe and everything. We know the answer is 42 but what is the question?
6x7?
How many roads must a man walk down?
How many unsadly reincarnations have PHE put into the database?

I think its due to increased risk of an accident but really not sure! They are jumping in Yorkshire. To be fair to our local stables someone dobbed them in early in lockdown the police visited and I think they are being uber careful not to fall foul of DA ROOLZ again.

Littlebelina · 19/08/2020 20:32

Congratulations @DominaShantotto!

@BakewellTarts, how does jumping relate to covid? I used to ride and this idea makes me hmm. Unless it's touching the jump itself?

There was a lot of pearl clutching among some riders at the start of lockdown with people competing to see how much they ‘respected’ the NHS - there were lots of reasons advanced as to why people shouldn’t jump/hack out/ride at all and lots of guilt-tripping if anyone who didn’t think that riding was a problem. One popular one was not burdening the NHS if you fell off and needed A&E - potentially taking a ventilator away from a more deserving (aka Covid) case Hmm. Other people thought that it was insensitive to be seen to be enjoying yourself - in the middle of a pandemic Shock etc etc

But riding, especially for those past the beginner stage, is perfect for social distancing - out in the open air, lots of space because you’re on top of a horse. Any restrictions are all part of riding schools wanting to be seen to be adhering to rules ...

Taswama · 19/08/2020 20:58

Yes I got the impression riding was a no-no at the beginning as its classed as high risk.
I'm not a rider so I'd be stuck if they didn't do tacking for them. The instructor adjusts it once they are on. They are not distanced then but probably a metre or more away from the face.

Glad you enjoyed your day at work @LivinLaVidaLoki. Our work was open for very few people from early July but including welfare reasons. It took me a week to craft an email to my boss asking to go back one day per week. I wasn't sure if crying every say was reason enough. She said of course, was going to suggest it. I've been in twice now (can only go if DP not working) : hardly anyone there but lovely to talk to the people who are, ride my bike there and visit the nearby gym in my lunch break.

BogRollBOGOF · 19/08/2020 21:08

We made it out at 4pm, flocked to Lyme Regis for some fossil hunting. A good stiff salty air blasting off the sea. Obviously Covid-ridden judging by the woman standing there at least 20m from another human in her mask. You can't be too careful. Covid could have blown all the way from the Gulf of Mexico you know Wink

Been a good chill out day.

Not a good day today, having been away to visit my adult children I have come home feeling anxious about all of them. Two of them are single and live alone, I think they are lonely and depressed, and DD has just found out that her future MIL may be terminally ill. It looks like we may have to plan a small socially distanced wedding at very short notice, and her fiancé has a tiny family so will have only have his sister and little niece and nephew if he loses his mum. I am really fond of him but couldn’t even give him a hug ☹️

I just want our old life back, I am sick of not being able to hug people.

WouldBeGood · 19/08/2020 22:11

@Evenstar it’s so bloody hard 💐

Willow2017 · 19/08/2020 22:13

Am knackered. Work is a bloody joke. Stayed an extra hour as wouldn't keave one person with that horrendous mess. Aching all over.

Evenstar that's awful, hope they can get something organised to suit everyone.

I lived in a caravan when a kid for years. I loved the sound of the rain on the roof.😄

Evenstar · 19/08/2020 22:25

So cosy hearing the rain in a caravan, I love being on a boat feeling it rocking gently and the sound of the ropes clinking on the masts too.

The mask wearing is the thin end of the wedge across the world countries are abusing this pandemic for reasons of their own. Thailand is in dire straits tourism wise. They have done a NZ and banned outsiders for another month, despite no deaths for the last three months.

I was shocked to read today that Germany is bringing in a new law directed at dog owners. It does feel as if governments are flexing their muscles in different directions to see how far and where they can push compliance.

German dog owners will be ordered by LAW to take their pets on hour-long walks twice a day under new regulations

Australia talking about mandatory vaccinations later backtracked somewhat, although still saying visitors should have one before being allowed in.

That German law is nuts!

Willow2017 · 19/08/2020 23:11

Hour long walks? Twice a day?
Many dogs don't need that nor can manage that wtf are they to do with them?

justasking111 · 19/08/2020 23:12

Poor old Thailand the travel industry say nothing until next year chinese new year may be off the cards too, their GDP is down 12% the people do not have benefits as we do in the west. It is so hard for them.

@WouldBeGood

That German law is nuts!
Well I did wonder if it wasn`t nudge theory at work again to get the humans fitter under the guise of being good for the dogs. They are not going to say well people you need to be healthier??
WouldBeGood · 19/08/2020 23:22

I certainly won’t get fit by going on the toddler style meander my dogs favour!

WouldBeGood · 19/08/2020 23:23

But I’ll be really good at sniffing hedges

RealityExistsInTheHumanMind · 19/08/2020 23:54

@Willow2017

Take them in a pushchair ???????????????
Dowser · 19/08/2020 23:55

My dil was booked for Thailand for Friday
Booked last year, after having a lovely trip to visit friends.hopefully she will get her money back

So done with this all now.

BogRollBOGOF · 20/08/2020 00:28

The dog walking is bonkers. I grew up with giant breeds that are slow, ploddy and can't take much walking and certainly can't take much heat. 2 hour long walks in warm summer would stand a favourable chance of giving them heatstroke or a heart attack!

Long time lurker. Getting increasingly depressed as this continues with no end in sight. Have a parent who has missed cancer appointments so has only just stared Chemo 4 months late and a dd who had her A level grades downgraded only to be adjusted later and we are the lucky ones. Have a friend whose mother has dementia whose condition has deteriorated during lockdown to the extent that her father said he was going to commit suicide. Another friend whose father is in a care home has seen him once since March before visits were stopped again due to a local shutdown in a neighbouring region.Yet on the current masks thread there are comments such as ‘jog on, hopefully into someone sneezing ... Covid germs straight onto your face’ . Is this really what this country has descended into ? I am genuinely frightened for what this country has become - there doesn’t seem to be any compassion or empathy just a dogmatic doctrine of obeying ‘the rules’ at all cost

countrygirl99 · 20/08/2020 05:18

One of our spaniels has hip dysplasia. We considered the OP but decided against it as we didn't think he would cope mentally with being created for 6 weeks then confined to walking on a lead for 6 weeks. He certainly wouldn't cope with not joining me on the settees, we'd have to remove the furniture and sit on floor cushions so he could cuddle. Hour long walks would be painful for him now.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 20/08/2020 05:41

@user1471448866 that’s about the size of it. I’m so sorry to hear your woes - and you’ve shocked me with the tale of living with a deteriorating dementia sufferer. For some reason that had never blipped on my radar. Here’s me bitching about dealing with an ASD child on my own for 5 months and that doesn’t even come close to the horrors and 24/7 vigilance required for dementia.

My poor old doggy likes a toddle. Not too far, not too long. He’s a metal Mickey as he was lobbed out of a moving car when he was a pup and the older he gets, the slower he gets. He also struggles over 20 degrees.

He pees 200 times an hour and sniffs everything. I’ve covered more mph on fridge runs!

Drivingdownthe101 · 20/08/2020 07:34

My old dog would look at me like I was trying to murder him if I tried to take him for an hour long walk.
When we lived in Spain I misjudged it once and took him a bit too far in the heat. He sat down on the pavement and refused to walk any further for a good half hour. He’s 25 kilos so I couldn’t carry him. People walking past thought it was hilarious!

MaxNormal · 20/08/2020 07:40

I don't condone violence obviously but hete is footage of someone on the tube who was haranguing a female staff member for not wearing a mask and had his lights punched out by a passerby.
