Hi I recently give birth to my first baby he's now 5 days old he settles really well throughout the day drinks all his bottle and sleeps perfectly but on a night time he will not settle unless he is on me or my partner we obviously don't fall asleep with him on us. I don't no if hes more hungry on a night or if he's just being fussy any help is much appreciated..

It’s totally normal - please don’t worry. Babies body clocks don’t run like ours (unfortunately) and they’re programmed to seek comfort and safely at night. You’ll hopefully have lots of other messages from other mums saying the same thing. It’ll get easier - I promise. Just enjoy those lovely cuddles and make sure you’re safe.

This is completely normal. With both of mine they got better around 8 weeks. We slept with them in bed (following guidelines) as otherwise we would have had to sit up all night.

Thank you for the reply hopefully he starts to settle in a few weeks

Google the fourth trimester.
Its absolutely completely normal for baby to want to sleep on you/be close to you. He's not being fussy, he's just being a baby. Congratulations on your new little one! Such an exciting (and exhausting!) time.

DS would only sleep on us. Turned out he had reflux and hated being laid flat. We couldn't tell until he was 5 weeks old.

Totally normal. My lo seemed to get really overwhelmed in the evenings too until we started doing a bath bedtime routine at like 7 then she was okay. Seemed mad to me starting a routine so early but I swear it helped!

Great thanks I will take a look

I think I will start trying to get a bath time routine put in and see how we go

Like others have said, really normal. I just fed and fed at night and it seemed to help but they are all different. You’ll get into the rhythm soon and find what works for you 💙

Ah never we'll I will keep an eye on him like I say he's fine through the day just screams on a night time and won't settle unless he's on us
